  • The Race is ON!

Short one from a few years ago.

I was driving home from a late night poker game at my BIL's house. At about 2AM I'm approaching a lighted intersection in the middle of a town and the light turn yellow so I slow to a stop. There is one vehicle that had been waiting at the red light that just turned green (so traveling perpendicular to my direction). The car starts to accelerate and he is about halfway through the intersection when a pickup truck comes up fast from behind him and rear-ends him hard (I don't think the truck even touched his breaks, my bet is a drunk driver).

Then the truck backs up about five feet, pulls around the car he just hit and accelerates at high speed. The car that was just hit also accelerates at high speed giving chase to the truck. And that's all I saw. I wish I had a cell phone so I could have alerted the police. I hope the car got the trucks plate and called the police rather than trying to keep up a high speed chase.
You'll find a slight squeeze on the hooter an excellent safety precaution, Miss Scrumptious.

    Yikes! That sounds rather dramatic.

My dad and I had that happen a couple of years ago. He'd had his new Hyundai about 6 months...when some jerk rear-ended us on the way home from a Penn State game. We pull over...the other driver took off Cops and EMTs were called, and the state police actually did pull over a similar car. Unfortunately, it wasn't he asshole that hit us.
