  • Almost bought the farm

So, Tuesday night I was coming home after work. Got off the Interstate, waited a minute or two for the light to turn green so I could turn left. Since people have been known to run the red there, I looked to the left...no cars/headlights that I could see. I proceeded to make my turn, next thing I know--BAM!

A guy driving a stolen Cadillac fleeing police ran the red light hit my minivan and careened into a guardrail. Luckily I was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags did their job. So far the worst injury known for me is broken ribs....the other guy and his passenger, though alive--not so lucky, they didn't have on a seatbelt.

OMG that is an awful crash! I'm so glad you made out mostly alright. Broken ribs are ouchie but that could have gone much worse!

As for the other guys, well, I'm having much more difficulty feeling any sympathy for them for some reason.

I haven't seen the other car, or the guardrail it took out after careening off my car yet. The accident made the news, and the images were shown. But, I have been hanging out in the recliner on my enclosed front porch, and haven't watched any tv or been in my computer inside...and this phone doesn't want to play the video.

          Glad you aren't very injured.

And yeah, no sympathy for the other driver cos of the laundry list of crimes committed just in that one act.
Fleeing police. Stolen car. Running the red. No seatbelt. Hitting another car. Damage to public property. And I'm sure he was speeding too.

Glad you're OK, other than the ribs, but why are there a pair of 3D glasses in the photo you posted??

                  Yep. That makes sense.

I've done it myself for car-wash photos. Last time I just slapped the team logo over the plates, but prior to that I tried to do effects.

Considering that I was probably only going 15 mph...yeah I think he was flying. He also had felony warrants at time of the accident.

Glad to hear you are mostly OK. MIL cracked four ribs last year in an auto accident. Not fun. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

It will be interesting to see the charges leveled. With all the major stuff, auto theft, fleeing, etc, I hope they add the no seatbelt just to "twist the knife" so to speak.

That is one scary wreck! I'm glad you're okay (mostly) and wish you a speedy and thourough recovery. I also hope insurance covers everything and doesn't take forever to do so.

Good NIGHT!!! You are one lucky Deevil for surviving that.

It could have been so much worse. Hope your recovery goes well though.

Yikes! That's a mess. You're lucky he didn't hit a couple of feet back. Better the engine block takes it instead of you.

I hope that you heal well. Those ribs must be a bitch to deal with; anything affecting the torso always is. I hope you have lots of fluffy pillows and a soft mattress. Perhaps you could fold up a spare duvet for support/padding?
