Is it just me or are more people finding it acceptable behaviour to double park?
My street isn't the widest street in the world. There is literally enough room to have two cars side by side in the road. The street is only down one side of the road and the other side is the backs of the next street's gardens along with fences, hedges, etc. There's a cul-de-sac at the end so you can turn around and come back, so yes sometimes we're waiting for other cars to get to the end of the street, turn around and come back or pull in to any gap. You get the picture.
When I get home, I drive into the street, go to the far end, turn around and then park outside my house.
The amount of times I've come home from work to find another car blocking the road ahead. I've learned my lesson so that I don't pull in to allow them to pass because that usually lets them think I've parked up. No, I wait for them to move before pulling in.
The one that really annoyed me though was a couple of months ago. A car ahead with its back to me. There's a large parking space just behind it on the right hand side but he's blocking the road. No-one around for a minute or so but I then see someone come out of one of the houses. He gets in the car and drives down to the cul-de-sac. I start moving towards the large gap to allow him to pass.
What does he do? He turns around and then pulls up exactly where he was before, but now he's facing me giving me a face full of full beams! TW@T! He goes indoors and disappears for several minutes.
I have to reverse out and back in. He's not the only person to have double-parked in our street in the past few months but he's the most memorable.
