  • Need to find a new route home!

The way I go home from work, is down the road my office is on, turn onto the divided county highway, go up about 10 miles, and turn off, into my complex. Very easy.

However, the very last mile or so of the highway can get very congested, so for the last 11 years, I've gotten off one street before, and gone parallel to the highway, and then turned into my complex.

The parallel road is narrow, two lanes, and has a street going off, and just past that, another road, which is the entrance to the local elementary school. School hours have changed, so school gets out about 15 mins before I leave work. So for the last two days, as I've come down that road, which is also hilly, in addition to being narrow, I've gotten tied up with cars coming off the one street, then turning right into the school, and others trying to turn left into the school, in addition to normal traffic. WHile I saw a cop there yesterday, its kind of a CF, so I may have to go back to the highway, and that congestion. UGH. ALl because school now gets out at 3:55 vs. whatever eary time it as before.

You have my sympathy. School traffic is the worse. I don't have kids, but I can always tell when school is in session because of the traffic.

When is someone going to invent transporter beams?

My apartment complex shares part of a driveway with a high school, so I have to be strategic about when I leave, so I feel your pain. In the mornings you have to watch out for parents flying around the corner (like their kid isn't already late) and in the afternoons everyone trying to leave backs up onto the nearby street and it can get so bad that when I worked nearby (about half a mile away) it would often be faster for me to walk than attempt to drive there.

Just an example of what a hasty 'gotta drop the kids off' driver can do.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. Hopefully the bill he gets will give him some sense in the future.

Yup, almost every day on my way to work I get hung up around the local school - I either need to leave extra early or so late that I can barely make it to work on time. Anywhere in the middle usually turns out the same as just leaving late from home.

I came by one day last week, and nope, cars were still turning into the school. Ugh. I'm also learning the bus routes and p/u times. one stops at the entrance to my complex, but i turn right out of it, and the bus stops just as the curb on the other side. So if i see it coming, i can whip out since i know he'll stop.
