So I was working at my 2nd job as a delivery driver and I get a call for Entitlement Lane, the part of the city that's very crowded, very upscale, very busy, very narrow, and full of rich nasty people. For a million dollars u can by a 3 bedroom townhouse there. Yeah. I checked. I sigh not really wanting to do it and but I do.
So as I'm going down Entitlement Lane in my tiny car, being very vigilant because there are a lot of pedestrians just milling around. So a stop sign appears at an intersection where lots of parked cars much bigger than mine are, I stop, look right and left and right again. There are a lot of people, like I said, but they are a few seconds from crossing and so I figure to turn right before they get here.
So I flick my turn signal and take my foot off the brake, STILL looking everywhere, becuase if someone decides to pop out from one of these parked cars I won't be able to see them. Which is what happens. my car rolls forward, and then suddenly this old man pops out running from behind a huge parked car. I stomp the brake, and he slows down and crosses. My foot slips off the pedal and the car rolls forwards again while he's taking his sweet time, and I automatically stomp the brake again, but it's too late. HEYYYYYyyyyyyyyy !!! he screams at me. With his raised fist like he was going to punch my car. If he'd done that I would've blared my horn at him and called police, because no one punches my baby. We have a stare off and he finally moved along becuase people are stopping to look at him screaming at me.
Now I know that since we were in a stop intersection that he had the right of way but who pop out from a parked car like that? When I'm a pedestrian, I always make sure the driver can see me before crossing even if I have the right of way becuase I don't want to be a pancake. Driver can get distracted. And I don't pop out from a parked car like that ever.
Maybe he forgot to look both ways before u cross thing. Jeez.
