Biking home from work yesterday, comfortably in the bike lane. There were four or five guys (late teens to early twenties) walking on the sidewalk next to me, traveling in the opposite direction. One was walking a little trick bike next to him.
As I approached, one of the guys made eye-contact and contorted his face into one of those "you're stupid" looks. Then he reached out and gave me a gesture I'd never seen before. His arm was straight, horizontal, and pointed generally in my direction. Then he made a dainty stirring motion with his hand. Like, imagine that there's a coffee cup glued to the wall sideways, and you're holding a tiny spoon with the tips of your fingers, then using that spoon to daintily stir the contents of the cup (which are somehow not spilling) without getting too close to it.
His face said that the gesture meant something to him and that I was supposed to be insulted by it, but I was too confused. I just rode by and pretended I didn't see him. He laughed as I passed. I think one of his friends laughed too.
Am I missing something? Has anyone else seen that before and might know what it means?
