So I usually say thank you to every driver--well, most of the time. If S is in a hurry or looks like he's having a hard day I kind of leave him alone. Today to avoid the starers (really--they will bore holes in your head) I decided to take an alternate route and backtrack home from downtown. I like that area anyway.
I was behind teen boys getting on the bus and it seemed like the driver was sarcastically putting them down. I was annoyed they were taking so long, but more annoyed at how those boys were being treated. As I put put in my pass the driver said thank you and I admit I ignored him because I was disgusted. As I walked on he loudly repeated himself to make a point (his suck) and I said "You're welcome." It was snarky and I feel bad.
As I was getting off the bus (as were the boys) he said bye to them like they were old pals. He'd been teasing them good-naturedly and it appeared mean because of the sarcasm. I had been incensed because they were good kids, unlike some on the bus. I tried to kind of smile at him but no dice.
Talked to my "usual" driver; asked if he knew the other one. I told my buddy I felt bad. Maybe he'll put a bug in the other's ear. idk I never have the other guy as a driver so on the off chance I serve him at my store it might be akward. My own fault. *sigh*
