  • On the road again.

(Sorry, 'bout the title but i'm listneing to Willie Nelson and it just seemed fitting )

    Short and sweet:

I was coming back from town today in a taxi, we stopped at a pedestrian crossing, the guy behind us, who was on a his phone, didn't. The taxi is a write off. I have seatbelt burns and whiplash.

I'm off work for two weeks. *sigh*

Ouch! What rotten luck. Hope you're feeling better very soon.

          Hope your recovery goes well.

Take heart; it's legally the other guy's fault.

And people wonder why I detest people talking on their cell phones while driving.

I fear the cellphone driver more than the drunk driver. There's more of them out there, and at all times of the day or night.

              Pratts pissheads and policemen

all can foul your day up something rotten when your in their way

Drunk Drivers are atleast focused on trying to drive the car..Cell phone users typically arn't.

disclaimier: i'm not endorsing or promoting the idea of drunk driving.. if you are drunk, then you need to find a ride home, or your ass needs to stay put until sober.

I remember that one MythBusters episode where they compared driving drunk to talking on a cell phone. True, they couldn't get totally smashed and still legally drive, but they drank right up to just below the legal limit and then compared their driving. While drunk, they actually performed better than when they were having a cell phone conversation, and I'm really not surprised given that most of the near-misses I've had driving were because of morons on their cell phones.

The one I always recall was this failure of humanity. When it comes to stop signs, generally the law says that if you pull up behind someone who is already stopped at the sign, you are still considered to be running the sign if you just pull out with them when they go. You stop /at the sign/, not 50 feet back. When you get to the sign, you stop. So, I'm at a stop sign at the bottom of an interstate off ramp, and across from me at the stop sign to get onto the interstate are two vehicles, a red Jeep and a white car. To give a general idea of the scenario, in order to make my turn here I have to cross traffic. There's a lane cut through the median to do this that starts a new lane on the other side. Red Jeep stopped before I did, so I let it go first. Then as I start to go, the white car pulls out right behind the Jeep, not even bothering to stop at the sign. What did I see when she passed my front bumper so close I could see the whites of her eyes? A cell phone glued to her ear. I always find it funny that she could tell from my face and my mouth movements that I was calling her a bitch, because she mouthed 'F*** you' back to me as she passed.

and i know they teach in driver's ed that you're suppose to stop even if the car in front of you stopped.

Our drivers ed teacher in high school would make you get out of the car and apoligize to the stop sign if you did not stop correctly. He had a script written up for you to read, and you would have to say it loud enough that everyone in the car could hear it, which would be difficult since he would close all the windows and turn the radio up.

reminds me of a story. this was a couple years ago as i was leaving school. i was the first car at the red light waiting to go right( allowed on red at this light) i pull foward a little to see if anyone was coming, since there was i stopped. i was mostly creeping up. what happens next...*thud* car behind me hit me. not terribly hard, but hard enough to shock me

i pull over to the side of the road, just to check my car see if its fine. the girl behind me did the same. both cars fine, no damage whatsoever. BUT...

she was on her cell phone THE WHOLE TIME...before...during...and after as she drove away. now here in this state, it is illegal to talk on the phone while driving, unless you have a hands free device. no one follows this law though...no one. everyday i see some moron with a phone glued to their ear. i've been driving like 6 yrs and only twice have i used my phone, for about 2 min

I have lived in rural areas where the danger of cows on the roads is a very real problem, and i've lived in exceptionally metro area (IE NYC, DC and to a lesser degree Orlando FL) and I have to say the most dangerous people on the road are people messing with their goddamn cellphones. I have had so many near miss collisions with people either talking away on a cell phone and changing lanes without signaling or *shudder* TEXTING while driving.

I hate people on their cell phone. I dont even answer my cell if i'm driving. If it's important enough for me to answer i'll pull over and take a call on the side of the road. But that's one in a million. Otherwise they go to voicemail, and i'll call them back when i get to my destination.

One of these days the whole US is going to ban talking on a cell phone while driving, in ANY form, and i will rejoice. Until then i drive like i'm being car chased by a pyschopath and i only barely make it somedays.

The frak? Is that really even okay? I would think that would be some kind of illegal, but maybe it isn't.

                              I'm sorry that happened.
