I was almost smashed by a car who thought it would be funny to pass a SCHOOL bus on the left side in a turning lane that I was currently in!

Imagine three lanes. I'm in the middle lane, the left lane is of course oncoming traffic, and to my right cars just going straight and not at me. Its a residential area. I was turning onto my street, to get home.

Okay, I was in the turning lane--at a full stop because there was a car infront of me and cars coming. The car infront of me turned because he saw what I didn't see in time. There was a school bus in the proper lane and a jeep liberty on his left, coming at me in the lane I am sitting in! Now, I was at a full stop and my brain just shut down and I panicked.

There were cars on the right side of me and I had nowhere to go. Didn't occur to me to reverse or anything but eventually I woke up and started honking my ass off.

The SCHOOL bus driver had to slam on his brakes and let the asshole get in front of him so JERK didn't smash us both into dust. He wasn't going slow either, no, he was speeding and didn't slow down at all! I am so angry right now. Not surprised but my heart stopped and I didn't even scream.

I drive a dodge ram 1500 but if a speeding not so small car is heading HEAD on my way, I am going to panic!

I threw my hands up at him in the WTF motion and he just smiled and waved like it was fine, crisis averted. asshole!!! Bus driver raised his hands at me to, he was just as OMG as I was.

What the hell is wrong with people!? He couldn't have waited patiently behind the school bus? I don't even know if kids were on it but damn thanks for endangering my life too, you ass!

Shame the bus driver couldn't have called his dispatch with the make/model/plate. Our buses have video cameras, and the cops will gladly hunt down any that dispatch tells them about.

EDIT: I've mentioned it before, but I did get to see a state trooper pull some guy over because the twatwaffle thought it'd be a good idea to pull around 3 cars and pass a school bus with its stop sign out, picking up kids. The statey was in the other direction of traffic, but no one seemed to mind him pulling a U-turn to nab this idiot.

But always take comfort in the fact that, if these folks drive that way all the time, they WILL eventually do it in front of a police officer.

You might not see karma, but it will happen and somebody will be there to witness it and enjoy it for you.

I can't speak for everyone else, but in the mornings, cops are too busy trying to catch kids smoking by all the schools to even bother to patrol the streets. It's pretty sad....considering instead of just giving a few $50 fines a few days a week, EVERY MORNING they'd be able to bust someone going around a school bus with its lights on. I guarantee that fine is way more hefty than $50.
