  • Instant karma

I was driving into work early last week and saw what had to be the most awesome piece of instant karma ever. As I was pulling off the interstate, this tricked Honda Civic came rolling in behind me, flashing its lights and whatnot, trying to pass. I come off the ramp, and he jumps two lanes to get wherever it is he was going. Well, this piece of road is just hag-ridden with traffic lights, and they don't seem to have any rhyme or reason as to when they change.

About a half mile up the road, I see the guy in the tuner jump off the line and right into the rear end of a black Crown Vic. First thought, ha! Serves you right, hope the other driver is ok. About two seconds later, the karma popped in. The Crown Vic was an unmarked Sherriff's deputy, and the blue lights fired up. Second though was HA HA HA, you just hit a cop!

Ahh...lane skipping. I call it "Mobile Frogger" around here.

There's certain spots on the edges of town here where there are as many as 4 lanes in both directions. Needless to say, there are idiots here who don't think to be in the correct lane at all times to avoid stuff like this (I personally think they just do it for fun anyway), but their exit will come up or sometimes even for no reason at all....BOOM BOOM BooooOOOoM! Car goes from furthest left lane to furthest right lane in a matter of seconds, and for the most part, people like this NEVER get caught or cause an accident.

That's a popular stunt in CT too, though they don't usually have as many lanes to pull it with. Usually. ::glares at 91-95 interchange::

tell me about it, I am dreading monday, I have a 230 oncologist appointment at Yale-New Haven ... I am planning on driving at least 2 hours early and catching lunch somewhere. Maybe Ikea for the swedish meatballs...

Ouch. There are certain times of the day when I avoid 91 south of exit 6 and anything along the equivalent stretch of 95. When it's not jam-packed with people who wait until the last possible minute to merge, it's full of crazy people who don't bother to signal or look before merging.

That's why I'm very glad that getting to Yale-New Haven is all in-city driving for us. I'd hate to add the highways of things to worry about when Baby#2 arrives.
