  • The Secret Is Out!

On Irv's road construction thread, I noted that it's gotten so bad around here lately that I basically have to re-route my whole route to work and back every day.

My mother warned me this morning that the way we've been taking every day (her to work, me to back home) has been discovered by everyone else, and now all the morning suicide drivers are taking that way to get to the freeway, too. As if it wasn't bad enough having to deal with them on the freeway alone.

The re-routed way to the freeway is going out of town, hopping on a country road then turning onto another country road and skipping onto the freeway. Being country roads, naturally, everyone is going to speed. I'm guilty of it myself. But I'm not going to do my freeway speed on the country roads! I'll go 55 in a 45, but I'm NOT going 65, 75, 80+ to get on the freeway. I'm not that stupid.

Of course, this morning, I was being tailgated by several suicidal late-for-work morons who wanted to go much faster than my piddly 55 in a 45......and passing me on the double yellow lines, passing me around the curves.......that's REALLY smart to do out in the country where there are FARMS. Farms = possiblity of tractors and other heavy machinery travelling slowly on the sides of the road. HELLO!!!!!

Best part about tractors; the Lightest 'farm' tractors are easily 4-5 times the weight of a Large van (we're talking Six-Seven tons minimum) and have a ride hight set that the lift-links at the back (the set of multiple bars between the rear wheels) will convert any car's engine block into a rather interesting set of 'Truck nutz'

Ah, yes, truck balls...My roomie is from the carribean, and the look on his face when he first saw a set of those on the back of a truck here was simply priceless...I thought he'd never stop laughing.

I've offered to hang a set of those on my daughter's car...

        With a bumper sticker stating:

        My last BAD date...
        You'd better be good

She doesn't think the school district would appreciate it...

My husband has a theory that the guys who add those are in extreme denial.

I, on the other hand, thought the blue pair I saw one day was extremely funny.

Of course, with the tractor comment, all I can hear is "International Harvester."
