  • Mall entrance: It's NOT a four-way stop

This happen a lot at your local mall or strip-mall area???? There are like five signs going into it saying, "Proceed through intersection", meaning they dont stop at the intersection. But people still stop and let other people turn in front of them??? And then other people stopped at the stop signs will pull out in front of the incoming cars, even though there's an accompanying sign saying "Incoming traffic has right of way".

Well, where I work the entrances to the parking lot has stop sign on each side, and the road coming onto the property is right of way with no stop sign (coming on-property looks like a T-junction). But people ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS either blow through the stop signs and nearly cream the people coming-in, or the people coming-in will stop as though they had a stop sign, then it's a bunch of false-starts before someone decides to go.

I love how people figure the stop sign doesn't apply to them, and get pissed when you keep coming at them; like you're the one that's wrong.

    Grrrr.

Are you from the Baltimore area?

This happens around here and I hate it with a passion.

Yep that's what happens around here too. And it's always some idiot soccor mom in an oversized SUV. And when you honk at them they reluctantly move very slowly like a huge glacier across the intersection.

There's one entrance into the shopping center where Store2 is located like that, except there are no signs. The roadway coming in from the main road just has no stop sign. The road that goes around the outside of the parking lot does have a stop sign in each direction, so the people coming in the entrance obviously have the right of way. The big problem with people stopping is that there are two lanes in the entrance road, a left and right turn (you can't go straight across). Sometimes someone in one of the entrance lanes decides to be nice and let the next person at the stop sign go through, but then someone comes up in the other lane and is not so nice (or doesn't realize what's happening) and it just causes confusion. Seriously, if you don't have a stop sign, don't stop.

That's basically how ours is set up. A divided entrance and the people enterign have right of way. Why it is so hard to figure out where to stop and not stop is really confusing, hint, look for the STOP sign. See one? Good. Now STOP.

We have had our share of fender benders and morons who keep piling int the entrance/exit area making it impossible to enter and blocking the main road.

I use one of the "unmarked" entrances that goes behind a few buildings and eventually goes to our lot. Much easier.

I'm glad I'm not the only one this torques! I've been yelling at people for years.

What's bad is when you get a whole line of them deciding to stop. And they always pick the Coors/Eagle Ranch entrance to Cottowood. That's the worst one to do it at. Coors has, by far, the most traffic volume, the highest speed (45mph), and a curve just before you get to the entrance. I'm just surprised that there haven't been any bad wrecks.
