  • Stupid boy biker (rant)

I was driving to my sister's the other night.

There's a small network of short roads near where she lives. A lot of drivers are careless there... swinging into oncoming traffic lanes on their turns, driving a bit fast for the area etc...

Not me. I'm always careful there cos it's residential and i know kids play in the roads.

But... o my. This kid was stupid.

It was dark, so it was already after 830 or so, and it was raining too. Apparently this kid felt that meant it was the PERFECT time to bike in the middle of the road - without a helmet, without a headlight and without reflective material on his body or bike.

If it had been any of the local residents - I've seen how THEY drive there - he could have been road kill.

Stupid kid was lucky I was going slow and easily stopped in the middle of my turn to make sure I didn't hit him.

.... oh and he looked to be around 12-14 or so... so um, wtf... his parents let him out like that? apparently they either want a dead son or they really just have no fucking clue on how to be responsible

It's a pretty rare occasion around here to see night bikers reflective or even light colored clothing, and it's even more rare to see a bike with a headlight or some kind of reflective shiny thing on it.....

They must want to die. Gee, I think I'll put on a black shirt, black pants, get on my dark colored bike, and go driving around all the neighborhoods with the least amount of street lights...

It also doesn't help that with the whole "Green" thing, it seems that less street lights are on all night anymore. It's like they take turns or are on timers.....

If I ever do see a cyclist with light colored clothing or a light, I want to hug them. Especially if they are actually riding in the bike lane or off on the shoulder!

I saw some jackass on a bike almost get crushed by a bus a little while ago.

Moron was biking at night, in the rain, wearing all black, no light, no reflectors.
In place of a helmet he was wearing some rediculous oversized headphones that wear bigger than his actual head.

Obliviot was going diagonally through a poorly lit intersection. Bus driver slams on the brakes and leans into the horn, dipshit didn't even flinch or look back, he didn't hear it at all, probably has no idea he was half a second from being splattered in full view of about 20 bus passengers.

That kid must hang-out with the guy I just kicked-out of my parking lot who decided that the time all the movies let-out (heavy traffic!!) would be the perfect time to start roller skating! (Said he was 'in training' or something)
