  • Hazard Lights Mean I Can Do What I Want!

A quick story. I was on my way to work when all of a sudden, the nice and shiny sports car in me came to a screeching hault and put on it's hazard lights. We had to break hard in order to avoid going into the back of it.

We proceeded to overtake the sports car, and took a peek inside.

A lady, who I will refer to as Princess, was sat, happily chatting away on her phone.

She had literally stopped in the middle of the road to answer her phone. Maybe we should have gone into the back of her to teach her a lesson.

I don't know what the rules in your state are, but here if you rear end someone, you are almost guaranteed to be at fault for the accident and will likely get the ticket. They call it failure to maintain a safe trailing distance or something. Even if the person just whipped around the corner on a red light....

    Blah...

It's very hard to get out of being at fault. Someone can literally just slam on their brakes for the hell of it, and even if you just can't stop in time and just tap....yup, you're at fault.

The theory is that you weren't following at a safe enough distance for the speed you were traveling.

That's true. BUT, if there is a WITNESS willing to come forward and tell the judge he/she saw the person deliberately slam on their brakes to try to force the driver behind him to hit them, and the judge has no reason to believe that the witness would make it up, then there's gonna be a problem.

Being I've been in four major wrecks, none of them being my fault, and having the guy that hit me each time try to lie their way out of it, you bet your ass if I'm a witness I WILL come forward to make sure ONLY the truth comes out.

Well of course that helps. Only now after so many years of that type of fraud going on.....

My ex was rear-ended and he was the one found at fault.

The worst part is that he slowed quickly to not hit the car that was ahead of him, who is the one that slammed on their brakes, looking for an insurance payout.
