  • my commute

so its about 8 miles...and about 20 minutes

i normally go in at 2, but if i do 3, i hit school bus traffic...bleghh

i just wanna sound off on my 2pm commute.

-i manage to get stuck behind someone slow at some point.
-95% of drivers dont use their signals...seriously wtf
-theres drifters (casually going from one lane to another sans signal)
    - ill be driving down the center of town...where there is street parking...and 2 lanes each way. im always in the right lane, and people getting out of their parked cars just let the door fly right open. like seriously....if im parked there...i wait til theres no one coming. if i cant get out, ill crawl across the seat to the other side. also i would never just let the door fly open. im seriously going to him someone some day.
-someone wants to parallel park...crap cant go around, too much traffic in the other lane...person usually has unusually large vehicle..
    -pot holes..

the ride home usually isnt bad since i just take the highway home. i should just take it in too, but no matter what i have to go thru west hartford center UGH.

I hear you on the headaches of driving during school time....since my morning commute is when all the kids are being picked up and taken TO school.

I know I'm only 23, but I'm gonna do it anyway...BACK IN MY DAY, there were only so many bus stops, and all the kids had to WALK to that bus stop. The bus DID NOT stop at every single apartment building on the block to pick the kids up.

There is a reason I leave when I leave every day....I hate being stuck behind school busses that stop, go, stop, go....every single freaking row of apartments.....

Ugh. If I drive through Mt. Lebanon, the people trying to parallel park just piss me off. It's bad enough that the traffic lights are timed badly enough that they turn the main drag into a parking lot...but throw a few idiots trying to park...and you're not going anywhere for awhile. And, it's always some old fool in a land yacht or some stupid soccer mom in an SUV (and with a phone stuck to her head) that screw things up! Seriously, learn to drive, or park in the damn garage!

Oh, and don't get me started on the buses either. They don't help relieve traffic at all. Quite the contrary--they cause it! I hate them with a passion, especially the 56C (along with the 56B or 56U) in Hazelwood. It's bad enough that they plod along and stop at every corner, but they straddle both lanes too!

School buses are also hated by commuters. Again, they're slow and will hold up traffic. But, at least you can turn off the main road, and can usually get ahead of them.

        omg seriously.

whenever me and my mom go somewhere and if we happen to get stuck behind the bus its like...back in the day lol the bus didnt stop at every house.

i mean in 2nd grade i had to walk up the hill and was out of sight of my house. really?

now around here. either the schools are clogged with suvs and minivans (and i swear its like the same car but 20 of them) waiting to pick precious up, or each kid gets dropped off at their own house and the parent still has to wait for them....or!! pick them up with their car at the bus stop. seriously. let the kid walk damnit

Oh, and another thing....back in my day, if you were late, the bus left without you.

The bus did not sit there idling outside of your apartment for an extra 5 mins while your mommy got you ready.

i was walking around downtown hartford the other day, and theres always CT Transit buses going around. but twice i heard them lay on the horn at other drivers. one guy mustve just swung his door open and the bus nearly took it off. i dont remember what happened the other time. some idiot probably cut him off.

then again i sometimes see these buses speeding or bottoming out through the middle of an intersection haha funny to watch. but not to ride, i hear they have cockroaches.

ive joined too many facebook fan pages about yelling at stupid drivers...people are gonna start thinking i have road rage

Yeah, I've gotten flack for being fans of those pages too, but I don't let that bother me. Better to type it out and vent that way than to be an idiot and do it on the road, right?

well no ones said anything. but i dont care. i will yell at other drivers. but my windows are up haha. i dont go any further than that.

yes if you were late, the bus kept going.

ive seen what i would say probably middle school kids getting off the bus and immediately getting on their cellphones..really?

i think even when i was in high-school (2000-2004) i dont remember any of the kids having cell phones...

You mean BACK IN YOUR DAY? hehe

I had to walk my butt to school I didn't even need a school bus. Kids are coddled too much these days being driven every foot of their journey outside.
