Two stories here.
First one was on my paper route this morning. I was delivering to this apartment building again. Now, this drive is kind of shaped like an "F". You pull into the driveway, and then there are two branches (with buildings in between) where the actual parking is. So I pulled in, and then tried to pull into the first branch, but...
There was a car that was just idling there. The driveway is wide enough for two cars to pass, but he was in the middle of everything, so I could not pass him. Which wouldn't help me anyway, since he was parked where I normally park for this customer. I clearly want to pull into that lot, but he doesn't move. Whatever. I park behind him, get out, deliver my paper, and get in. I see the driver watching me, so clearly there is someone in the car supposedly capable of making it move. I get back in the car, and do an awkward turn around (since I can't pull into the parking to turn my car around, and I don't want to back onto the main road, and my brain was too full of "WTF?" to think of going down to the next lot to turn around in).
Just...why?!?!
I ran up to school today just to pull my petri dishes out of the incubator for our group Bio lab (they are my pet bacterias...I have named them all Bob), and I had to find parking. I pulled down an aisle, and saw a good parking spot, except...
It was being blocked by a car, which was waiting for another parking spot to open, that was further away than the open one. Furthermore, there were several parking spaces just past the one he was waiting for. Literally, at least a dozen. So, since the person leaving was still putting her things away, I drove around the waiting car and parked in one of the many open spots. So did the van behind me. Both of us were out and walking towards the buildings by the time this car finally was parked. I guess he just had to have that spot for some reason. (It wasn't even a good spot, either. It wasn't on the end or extra wide or anything!)
Bonus: Guilty Conscience?
Waiting at an intersection with two side-by-side left-hand turn lanes. The left-most lane is left-turn only, where the next one is left-turn/straight. I was behind a Border Patrol SUV in the left-turn-only lane. As the light turned green, our lane began to move, but the car in the next lane wasn't. I glanced over to find out why, and the driver of the car not moving is glaring at the BP agent! He looked angry, as well as...a bit of fear? After his initial hesitation, he slowly began to move, and went straight, even though I could swear he was signalling to turn when I pulled up beside him at the light. Hmm...makes me wonder why he doesn't like the BP?
