  • More I-91 lulz

I went up to vermont yesterday, and on our way back we were coming 91 south into hartford. i wasnt surprised it was backed up since it was about 5pm. i think there was 3 lanes, and an HOV lane to the left. i couldve used it, but i didnt idk why.

eventually we see a state trooper with a car pulled over into the median between our lanes and the HOV lane. one person in the car haha. SO MANY people were just using the HOV lane to bypass traffic. then i see someone get pulled over going north. then see another 2 cars together south. fools lol

Oh $DEITY. I get so pissed off when I'm sitting in traffic on the Staten Island Depressway moving at 5mph if I'm lucky, and these self-important jerkholes sail by in the HOV lane with nobody else in the car.

I wish they'd issue paintball guns at the toll booth on the Verrazano, so if drivers see someone in the HOV lane who doesn't belong there, *SPLAT*. Then Highway Three can pull over everyone with a red blotch on the side of the car. Ah well, we can dream, can't we.

I never get to see HOV karma.

I've always wondered, though. Would I be allowed in the HOV lane if my other passengers were my 2YO and 4YO children? Because they wouldn't be very visible from outside the car, but they are other people.

Haven't done it, mostly because I don't want to get pulled over and try explaining to the cop/trooper who my additional passengers are. But the thought does occasionally cross my mind.

Children count towards HOV limits. Unborn children do not.

I think that is why in the DC area all the HOV surveillance I see is at the exit ramps where the officer has a clear view into the vehicle.

Awesome, thanks Ironclad. Though I don't know that I'll really tempt fate by trying it out next time, but it's good to know nonetheless.

I was on I91N coming from Cromwell the other day where the speed limit is TECHNICALLY 50-55mph (on most days, traffic moves at the standard 65). The traffic was actually going the speed limit, so I knew something was up.

I see Mr. Cop sitting with his radar when Mr. Asshat is driving at least 70 and switching lanes like a madman. Mr. Cop hits his lights and sweet, delicious justice is served!

A couple months ago mom and I were on the SE Expressway going down to RI, and we see someone pulled over by a cop in the HOV lane. I note that the passenger sitting on the barrier looks a little odd...yup, it was a mannequin

It made the local news that night, and earlier in the week there was another story about someone pulling the same stunt.

My mom used to take me and my brother on a lot of trips to the store and the like so that she could take advantage of the carpool lane.

There was only one time I drove alone in the HOV lane.... when the police were directing EVERYONE into the HOV lane due to a bad accident. Not really a suck on that part.. suck on the police part for not getting cones leading people back out of the HOV lane (since you can't legally leave the HOV lane except at the HOV exits).
