  • I'm grateful for....

(Mods, if this isn't the best place for it, feel free to move it.)

Trying to be a bit more cheerful than previous Roadkill posts I've written.

I'm grateful for those turn indicator lights on the sides of big trucks. I was driving on the highway the other day, signalled my intent to merge to the middle lane from the right, and checked for the all-clear. I had a gap, so I started to merge. Then I noticed the turn indicators blinking on the near side of the eighteen-wheeler in the leftmost lane, and was able to get out of his way rather than get run back into my lane by force. So I'm grateful for the side lights, because there's no way I would've seen his front or rear indicator lights where I was.

So what driving-related things are you grateful for?

Yep, that's what they're there for!
Grateful for... cars. Just in general. U.S. public transport isn't as fabulous as Europe, especially in my area. It is getting better, however.

I'm grateful for the long stretches of rural roadways where I live, where 'rush hour' is two pickup trucks, a minivan, and a tractor.

I'm grateful for when your trying to turn out onto a busy road and someone lets you out. Doesn't happen a lot but I try to pay it forward when it does!

I'm grateful for living in a little seaside tourist town that's never further than a couple of miles from open countryside.

My daily commute frequently includes driving past ships of many types (including various tall ships), horse & carriages from the promenade, various types of farm machinery, & a heck of a lot of bikers, who like to show off their bikes on the seafront. Combined with the scenery, my commute's very pretty
