  • Truck Driver temper tantrum.

I'll start by saying that I'm an Over the road truck driver myself. and this is one of the biggest AssHat drivers I've seen in my 6 years of doing this job. Henceforth to be know as AH

I was parked at a medium sized very busy truck stop taking a 10 hr break. It had been raining fairly heavily for several hours so the roads were wet. I was sitting in the drivers seat doing paperwork when i heard a truck engine revving repeatedly and honking its horn.I looked over to see a driver flailing his arms about and yelling at the truck stopped in front of him that was waiting for another truck to get backed in to a parking spot.the truck in front of the AH was finally able to move so AH starts to move only to be cut off by another truck that was waiting to exit the truck stop. This caused AH to start grabbing stuff off of his dash, throwing it around in a major temper tantrum. When that truck was cleared the took off at a high rate of speed, u-turning his truck behind the fuel pumps and nearly hitting another truck head on. He then proceeded to race out of the truck stop. Around twenty min later I walked up to the store at the truck stop only to see fire/rescue, police and ambulances down the road. I inquired as to what happened. It turns out that AH pulled out of the truck stop without stopping or looking and pulled into the path of a car which then struck the trailer partially going under it. It was several hundred feet before the truck stopped. They rescue was having to cut the car apart to remove the people inside. Sadly I do not know if there were any survivors. Mr AH was so impatient to get out of there that not only did it possible cost others their lives it also cost him hours of delay and possibly ended his career. At least I hope it did.

I'm sure an incident like this would be on the news if there were any fatalities. Truck drivers, being professionals driving among the most dangerous vehicles, need to be the most level-headed on the road.

I once was actually chased by a big rig on the interstate after I "cut him off" (what really happened was it was rush hour in stop-and-go traffic and I had to merge from an onramp and did so with him about 50 feet behind me). Although he had more than enough space and time to stop (it was about 15 MPH traffic), he was pissed that I went ahead of him despite me having my blinker on and he was in a dead stop almost inviting me to enter the gap.

Once the traffic freed up, he was on my ass honking for about 5 miles and forcing me to gain speed. I swear if I hadn't accelerated he would have hit me. After making a few maneuvers the 18-wheeler couldn't possibly make, he gave up. Some people are just not fit for truck driving.
Fiancee: We're going to need to do laundry. I'm out of clean pants.
Me: Sounds like a job for Gravekeeper!
    Fiancee: What?!
    Me: Nevermind.

I think if anyone came forward to report his behavior at the truck stop, it certainly would. And it needs to.

I agree Kaylyn. I can't count the number of times ive seen shit like that happen. It always makes me angry because of the number of OTR's I know.

Good lord almighty...Let me (a trucker's daughter for those that aren't aware) say that I am SO GLAD this man has never been anywhere near myself or my father, that I know of. I hope whoever was in that vehicle survived, and wasn't hurt badly, although car vs semi usually ends badly. I hope AH got a nice sit in jail or something, and I hope that this woke him up to his obviously dangerous ways. It's sad and frustrating that it even happened, and over what? A few measly minutes? Some people shouldn't be licensed to drive a car, let alone a semi!

It's my hope that the guy never drives again. There is no excuse for the behavior this guy exhibited that day.

My friend Nikki used to drive truck (hopes to start driving again, in fact), and she would agree with the sentiment that asshole drivers like that give truckers a bad name.

I had a truck get right on my ass and put his high beams on. No idea why. I didn't cut anyone off or even change lanes. I guess I just wasn't going fast enough for him. I heard about a trick where if someone behind you is beaming you, you could angle your rear-view mirror so it reflects right back at them. I must have done it right, because he backed way off and turned his lights down. I told Nikki about it, and she told me, "If you do it right, it hurts like a bitch!"
