  • Have you taken all leave of your senses?

I'm heading down to a local shopping centre about 30 mins away yesterday evening to pick up a netbook (yay! New toy!) when I notice some blobs in the sky. It would appear that there was a mass hot air balloon launch nearby, which was nice but a little distracting. At this point I realise that I'm hurtling down the motorway at 70(ish) and not paying really good attention so I focus on the task at hand.

At this point I notice that there's a vehicle on the hard shoulder with its hazards, so Mirror, Signal, Mirror, Manouver and I head into lane two (I was in lane one, the one next to the hard shoulder). I try to do that incase there's a lunkhead who thinks it's a good idea to walk around the offside of the vehicle into the live lane.

    Anyhow.

As I'm approaching said vehicle I can't see the occupant anywhere on the verge. It's only when I am about level that I see the idiot standing in the hardshoulder in front of his car videoing the hot air balloons.

He had no idea of the danger that he was putting himself in, nor the fact that he was breaking the law.

    Fool.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

WHAT?! Apart from the fact that he's breaking the law does he not realise how dangerous it is to be on the hard shoulder? When I broke down on the motorway once and had to be on the hard shoulder I was petrified in the short time it took me to get from my car to the embankment in case someone rammed into me.

You think that's distracting? Try 750 in two waves. Welcome to ABQ in October.

It's more unusual not to see at least one balloon up.

I think we're probably the only city that has a PSA that says if you're going to watch the balloons, please pull over!
It's floating wicker propelled by fire!
