So I was heading to work this morning and there was the backup of traffic at the light. There is normally a string of cars but I see that the light is green and the string of cars is not moving. So I look at the car up at the front who has a signal on. I thought maybe it was his flashers but I don't see the cars behind him going around. So then I figured the next option, he wanted to turn left but wasn't in the left turn lane. And suire enough that is what it was. So the asshole made a bunch of other people wait because he was a stupid idiot.

Argh, why why whhhy can't people just be smart enough to do a small detour to correct their mistake?

Whenever I miss a turn, it's no big deal. I just go to the next stop/light and either make a U if I can or double back through a parking lot or etc etc instead of something illegal.

Is it so hard to just pull ahead & to the side, so you're kinda in the right spot but not blocking?!

Uh, can't legally do that here - it is illegal to use a parking lot for turns. (When it's the only safe option, though, it won't stop me.)

As to being in the wrong lane, remember: two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights DO make a left!

For us, for example, if you want to make a right but the light is red, you can't cut through a lot to make the right instead of waiting. Not allowed.

Using a lot (never a gas station) to figure out where to go is probably not good, but doesn't matter, like when you have to get back another way.

What I meant was if I wanted to take a turn but missed it, and there's a large lot that will let me go back to the road, then I'll just go through the lot.

Also, Montreal is a maze of one ways and no left turns that doesn't actually have a real plan to it so it can be easy to miss turns and have to figure out which street will get you where. One time a missed turn took me over 5 minutes to get back to where I needed to be XD

Are you sure about that?

I know that a lot of people think it's illegal to do that in California, but the only law on the books for the state is that if you do choose to go through a parking lot to cut a corner, you are required to come to a complete stop before exiting back onto the street.
