Boy I got to see all kinds of special snowflakes on the road all in one car trip, and I got screamed at just once.
Here's all of what I saw and experienced within the span of less than an hour:
Bonus: There's a spot near where I live that is damaged from recent flooding - a small bridge over a creek and one of the lanes has a big hole in it, so right now there's one lane open with stop signs on both ends and people are supposed to take turns driving through. I pulled up to the stop sign and waited for a white car to drive over. My mother didn't see the white car - she saw a blue car just pull onto the road and thought I was waiting for them. Cue her screaming bloody murder at me to go and not wait for this blue car, and I tried to explain that I was waiting for a car that was there before me.
Then she saw the white car, admitted she didn't see it (why she has to see for me when I'm driving is beyond me), and apologized.
Non-car-related bonus: My mother informed me today that it's "not healthy" to not have a job (and to also not be too enthused about looking). Well hey, it's also not healthy to call potential employers and tell them to email me either, but that sure doesn't stop her!
Here's all of what I saw and experienced within the span of less than an hour:
- Old geezer backed into my (mother's) car in a store parking lot. It was really busy because of a sale and I was very slowly backing out. Didn't even see this moron until I was ready to drive off because he had to have begun backing out after me so he should have bloody SEEN me, and he kept right on backing up even though I was laying on the horn. He bumped the driver's side, but it didn't even leave a dent or any paint. Guy didn't stop or get out or anything - just drove off.
- Three people in rapid succession passed me on the right while I was waiting to make a left turn. I think one person even drove over the curb to get around me. I always thought passing on the right was illegal?
- While waiting to make said turn, a guy in the opposite lane came along and also wanted to make a left turn. Rather than waiting for me (since I got to this particular area before him), he chose to squeeze his big-ass truck between my car and a telephone pole and had to drive in the wrong lane on the road he entered to do so. Because he couldn't wait two seconds. I was so tempted to crash into his impatient ass.
- Asshole on a bike who sped right out into traffic without looking and made me slam on the brakes.
