I live off of a windy road. The road I use to go to work is just as bad. I always do the speed limit on these roads because I've seen the accidents that have happened from people driving over the speed limit, driving recklessly in general, and the people who have hit deer on these roads (had a close call myself the other week).

I'm driving along earlier tonight coming home from work when this guy pulls out behind me. We hadn't been driving for more than 3 minutes when he decides I'm going to slow for him. So on a narrow, two lane road while going around a tight turn, this asshole decides to pass me. I don't take kindly to that type of recklessness so turned on my brights and kept them on until he had driven far enough away for them not to effect him. I strongly believe bad behavior should be returned in (non-lethal) bad behavior.

Well, I get to the 4 way stop sign and turn to get to my road when guess who's sitting in the opposite lane!

A cookie to anyone who guessed the asshole who passed me.

This guy followed me almost 3 miles down this twisty, curvy road riding my ass while flashing his brights at me. So I dropped down 10 miles below the speed limit and enjoyed the ride. I was in absolutely no hurry to get home (well other than to post this ). About 200 yards before my before the road to my house the guy pulled into a drive way and turned around.

Wasn't too worried about him following me home. I have a highly protective great dane and also a highly protective father who were there. Along with my own bad attitude.

I will slow down to the speed limit. If I'm 5 over, there's no reason for anyone to ride my tail.

Question...Besides passing you, was there anything else he'd done at that point? And/or was it a legal pass?

passing on a corner is NEVER legal on a two lane road. And passing on a corner put RedRose in danger.
Honestly.... the image of that in my head made me go "AWESOME!"..... and then I remembered I am terribly strange.-Red dazes

There's no reason but that doesn't stop SD (Sucky Drivers) from doing it. I've had it happen numerous times. I can be doing the speed limit, even going slightly over (5-10 km) and people still zip up behind me and ride my bumper. So, of course, I slow down ... and slow down ... and slow down ...

(P.S. if I see other people coming up behind the original SD, I do either speed up again or pull over.)

This. It was a very illegal pass and more dangerous than normal because of the location. We were on a high up hill and there was a deep drainage ditch to my right that if things had gone wrong I could have ended up in. It's also not unusual for kids to be walking in the area (trailer park is on the right past the drainage ditch going down the other side of the hill).

Incorrect. I've driven many places that allow passing in turns, if there is enough visibility...quite a few of those roads are almost exclusively turns, for that matter. The fact I'm used to passing in turns when allowed is why I was curious what I was missing.

That being said, it was not a valid turn in this case, so moot point

I suppose it would depend if their lane had a solid yellow or yellow dots on their side, indicating no passing or passing. Still, passing on a turn is always risky, and RedRose was familiar with it being a bad road.

Wow, that's a lot of effort for the guy to go to to try an intimidate you. What a sad life he must lead.

It gets better. I was coming home from work the other night and guess who pulled onto the road behind me...yeah he was back. Kept his brights on me the entire way to the bridge on that road and then thankfully went the other way. I ended up in bed the rest of the night with a headache from his lights.

Doesn't that count as harassment at this point? I mean, the one incident is continuing anger, the second time is him picking you out and following you deliberately when nothing had happened again on your end.

Yep, there are some areas where you're allowed to do that. Not many that I know of here though--quite a few areas have rolled back their speed limits, and either shortened, or done away with the passing zones on two-laned roads. Most of my area is heavily built-up now, too many idiots were driving way too fast on those roads.

However, if you're passing someone on a blind curve...you're an idiot. There could be anything around the corner--an accident, someone pulling out of a driveway, someone overhanging the double-yellow a bit, all of which makes it a bad idea

I had someone briefly tailgating me today -- but on a 35-mph four-block-long spur near a school, with the other lane empty, while I was doing the limit. I literally could not even see her headlights, so I felt obliged to brake check her shortly before the RED light so that she and her little red rollerskate wouldn't end up as a bumper decoration on my lovely lovely tankmobile ^_^

It was right up there with the guy at the 4Way stop a couple days prior who decided that "Hey, the guy right ahead of me (in my lane) just went ahead, so that means I can go too and don't actually NEED to stop for the stop sign". If I hadn't been paying attention, he would have been my new hood ornament x.x
