[background] I decided to go get something to eat from my favorite place down the road, which is notoriously busy during lunch. What makes it worse is the small parking lot, so it's always a pain to park. The parking lot is a wide U shape, there's parking in the front, down the side and in the back and on the other side there are a few spots but it's by the road to come in and out. The spot I got was in the front and close to the corner and there was a giant puddle on the driver's side when you stepped out of your car, which I figured is why I got lucky. [/background]
So I'm leaving the restaurant with my food and heading to my car. Another car, upon seeing where I'm headed, stops and I can tell it's gonna wait for me to move. When I get in my car and try to back out, I can tell the car waiting for me is too close for me to back out and there are cars sitting behind her, so she can't really back up either. I pull back up into my parking spot and figure I'll just wait for parking lot traffic to clear up. She continues to sit there and since there are people going the opposite direction as her, the cars behind her can't move and she eventually honks at me, expecting me to move. Finally, it's clear and the cars behind her go around her and she backs up so I can get out.
I can understand waiting briefly for a spot, but if you're just gonna sit there and hold up traffic, you should just move along. What's worse is when I got out of that spot, the cars that had been sitting behind her stopped halfway down for another car to pull out and I saw the car next to me pulling out after my spot was taken. So it's not like I would've been the only car leaving and if she had just driven back around she might've gotten the spot next to me or halfway down.
