  • Parking lot woes

[background] I decided to go get something to eat from my favorite place down the road, which is notoriously busy during lunch. What makes it worse is the small parking lot, so it's always a pain to park. The parking lot is a wide U shape, there's parking in the front, down the side and in the back and on the other side there are a few spots but it's by the road to come in and out. The spot I got was in the front and close to the corner and there was a giant puddle on the driver's side when you stepped out of your car, which I figured is why I got lucky. [/background]

So I'm leaving the restaurant with my food and heading to my car. Another car, upon seeing where I'm headed, stops and I can tell it's gonna wait for me to move. When I get in my car and try to back out, I can tell the car waiting for me is too close for me to back out and there are cars sitting behind her, so she can't really back up either. I pull back up into my parking spot and figure I'll just wait for parking lot traffic to clear up. She continues to sit there and since there are people going the opposite direction as her, the cars behind her can't move and she eventually honks at me, expecting me to move. Finally, it's clear and the cars behind her go around her and she backs up so I can get out.

I can understand waiting briefly for a spot, but if you're just gonna sit there and hold up traffic, you should just move along. What's worse is when I got out of that spot, the cars that had been sitting behind her stopped halfway down for another car to pull out and I saw the car next to me pulling out after my spot was taken. So it's not like I would've been the only car leaving and if she had just driven back around she might've gotten the spot next to me or halfway down.

When it comes to parking spots, people rarely think logically. They would rather sit and wait with their engine running for 5 minutes then walk a few extra feet.

Worst I saw was in a nearly empty garage. We had the spot next to the elevator and someone wanted the spot right next to us.

We were taking some time unloading all our stuff and she chose to wait for us to be finished and close our door instead of just parking in the next spot over, or the one behind us. You get the picture.

And yeah, she wasn't patient about it either. She rolled down her window and asked if we could hurry it up, 'cuz she needed to park.

I nicely told her we'd a little bit longer but that spot (and that spot and that spot and that spot were all wide open).

Nope. She chose to wait anyway. With a nice case of CBF to back it up.

      People are weird.
The best karma is letting a jerk bash himself senseless on the wall of your polite indifference.

The stupid is strong with this one.

My mom was moving out of her old apartment because the maintenance guy decided to fire up the snow blower in the basement. Also, they were trying to tell her she had to shovel even though it said the would do all the maintenance in the lease. So she found herself a new apartment (and a much nicer one).

The owners were complete asses about the whole thing. They would not let me park closer to the building to load the car. So I had to haul the stuff around the house. Then I got stuck in the driveway and owner's asshole husband decided he needed to park there. Evidently, we were not moving fast enough for him because he started to tap his fingers on the A pillar. So I asked him if he had any salt or something to which he said no. I swear if he would have started to honk, a shovel was going up his ass.

We got the car out. Evidently, she was a bitch to the movers too. For the life of me I do not understand why she was such a bitch to my mom.
