Yesterday it was raining/drizzling all day & when I went to get my lunch (about 2pm
) I saw a lady run a red light - straight into a pedestrian
you could hear the thud for miles!
Yeah, it gets worse
The driver sat there, window up, and waited for the lady to just get up & walk away.
Luckily she couldn't drive off because a) she was still at a red light b) there were cars around her who saw everything - and one pulled up next to her to help the pedestrian and c) other people nearby came to the pedestrian's aid & effectively blocked her in
She just sat there, not opening the door or window - in a light drizzle, not a downpour - and didn't even check on the poor lady until other people did. And then, she wound down her window & bellowed out "Are you OK?" in such fake sympathy I winced from where I was from ages away.
I dunno, there IS the possibility she meant it. There IS the possibility as the mgr at Subway [I grabbed to be a witness if needed] pointed out that she'd frozen in shock. But somehow I think she only stopped to finish her text/phone call & then just wanted to be off. Um - no. You hit that lady at a good 60KM/H. You ETHICALLY & LEGALLY need to stop, check the pedestrian is OK, and get her to the hospital/ER (which, ironically, was on the other side of the road, just not accessible by cars there).
