  • A 2nd Accident?

So today I am woken up from sleep due to an "injury-accident." The accident is near my house so I get ready which involves putting in contacts so I can legally drive. Well, I pull out and I cautiously approach the intersection near my house since I want to head East since it's the quickest route to the fire department to grab my gear. I'd consider stopping on scene, but the full-time engine and ambulance plus multiple cops are already there. It's more important to go to the scene at this point so they can pull more apparatus.

Well, approaching the intersection, I slowed down to a 40 in a 55 and then went slower as I was approaching my turn. I was unsure of exactly what was blocked off if anything was and so I was going slow just in case plus I don't want to hit any person. No one was directing traffic since it is a physically large intersection and they had one lane on the left hand side open so they were letting the traffic signals do their job. I had a green signal so I turned right.

On this main road (it's a road that is pretty much straight with only 2 traffic lights spaced far apart and only 2 intersections. I don't think it's considered a highway. Limited businesses on my side. well, I am going 60 in a 55 now. I do not have lights and sirens so I was speeding, but 60 is actually normal traffic.

Well, a blue van pulls into the right lane and slams on their brakes. I slow down but pull into the left lane because no one was there. I did not use a turn signal. Oops, no one was near me besides this guy.

Well, this guy proceeds to swerve towards me 3 times but does not go over the line. I wasn't sure exactly what was up till the guy proceeds to flip me off as I slowly pass him (I am only doing 60).

What the fuck? The only thing I can think to warrant such behavior is that I was going slow as I approached a fucking accident. It is not like this was daylight where it is harder to see flashing lights, it was a little bit before dawn so the lights were visible. There was no way for the van to be on this road without passing the accident given where we were. Like he has no clue I am with the fire dept and it was actually important I got to the station since I ended up rolling out in another squad, but it's not like I was driving reckless. I was driving cautiously due to the fact that there was an accident. Maybe I shouldn't have slowed down as much as I did, but it's better than killing someone.
