So my college is about 20 miles away from home, and most of it highway miles. But the rest of it is back-road-I'm-surprised-these-roads-are-even-paved roads. So when a huuge storm started to blow through, I headed home early.

The trip home on the highway was quite interesting. Visibility was pretty much nothing, but that didn't stop people with white cars, in a white-out, deciding they didn't need to turn their lights on. The snow was drifting, there was a bit of ice, and then, I'm not kidding, just as I was about to get off the highway, I saw this:

An 18-wheeler, going down the highway in the opposite direction, with a guy clinging to the outside, and the engine hood popped.

I have no explanation. I have no words.

Obviously he can't drop below 50 MPH or the truck will explode.

The driver got out to take a leak and the semi decided to just go on without him? The rig's like, "Oh hells no, I'm not staying out in this crap! Gonna find me a truck stop!"

The driver is trying to pull the battery cable or something that will kill the engine!

I think I like cars that automatically turn the headlights on if it gets below a certain brightness or just turns them on and off with the ignition. Keeps people like me from forgetting to turn them on when she's driving her black car, on black asphalt, during a storm or at night...
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

The good news is that I am pretty sure if he died, it happened so close to home, I would have heard about it.

There is a very interesting story behind that, which we are unfortunately missing out on.
Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Simple. The throttle cable snapped, so the guy was hanging onto the fuel rail to keep the engine running at speed.

I just hope there was another guy inside holding onto the steering wheel.

(Yes, I have been watching too much "Redneck Restoration: This Old Truck" lately. Why do you ask?)
