Earlier on my shift, a woman bought a lot of things, including two lamp bases. TWO. I know this for a fact because it's something we rarely sell, and I rung them up myself.
A few hours later, she came back, showed me her receipt and claimed she'd been double-charged for her lamp base. I told her that I'd rung her up and she had two lamp bases. She insisted she only had one, and she'd only put one in her car. She said all this with a smug little smile that told me she knew she was wrong and did not care.
Unfortunately, the only thing I could do was refund her. I did tell a manager after, but I reall don't know what else I can do.
We've had so many people ripping us off lately it's disgusting. One woman went to the jewelry making aisle and was caught on camera stuffing her purse. She cleaned us out of hundreds of dollars of stuff.
Corporate's as useful as a screen door on a submarine. They keep giving out plans to stop shrink, but no way to implement them. Camera systems are great, but basically useless without a loss prevention specialist keeping an eye on things. We're expected to do that, but we have no training in what to do in such an instance, and we're too busy with our normal duties anyway.
It's just getting to the point where I am too burned out to care anymore. I am. I'm sick of it. Sick of decent, law-abiding people like myself being ripped off by scum-sucking thieves and lowlifes. Sick of being treated like crap because I work in customer service. Just sick of the whole damned thing. I want to find a nice comfy cabin in the middle of nowhere, settle in and tell the whole world to fuck off. And that's not like me.
Please forgive my bitchy attitude, but I am just so fried I can't take much more.
