  • Customers Are Not Allowed in There!

This SC comes into the store about 20 minutes after I clocked in. He looks at the beer coolers, and then approaches my register to ask if we have any 18 packs of Budweiser. I told him "I believe we only sell the 12 pack."

My lady boss looks at him and says she thinks we only sell the 12 pack. She knows we do, but she tries to play nice with the customers. Well the SC looks at me and says "Can I go in the cooler and check?"

Our cooler is an employees only area, and it says it on the door. I told him "we don't allow customers in there." At the time it's really busy, and we're still waiting for my other boss to show up. Well the SC goes back to look at the beer, and then he tries to go in the cooler after I just told him NO! Are you for real?! What is it about this that you don't understand?!

Well he sees me looking at him and starts walking away, and I go back there to check in the cooler myself. We definitely only sell the 12 pack, and he thankfully didn't make it in. He was gone by the time boss showed up.

He understood. He just thinks that 'no' doesn't apply to him.

Exactly...'Employees Only' doesn't apply to special snowflakes like him.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

I wish I were even tempted to ask if you're kidding, but I've been here too long.
Thanks, SCs, for driving up the price of my beer by making Teefies' store buy security for a dang walk-in!

My regular liquor store has a pretty deceptive customer accessible beer cooler; I didn't even know it was until I'd been going there a year or so. But even though I know I'm allowed in there, if two employees said they didn't sell something, I think I'd save myself the bother. And really, how much hassle are six "extra" beers? Get two 12-packs cheapo!

I remember those days when I worked at Publix. We had "employees only" signs at the front office, the back hallway entrace near the office, the entrance to the produce department, and the one at the meat department, not to mention the ones in the dairy section. Yet, you always had some entitled asswipe trying to sashay on in, like they owned the place.

If you don't have it out front, I'll take it upon myself to enter into a restricted area.

I'm a little surprised to be honest, most of the bottle shops here in NZ (and even a couple of supermarkets) have walk-in coolers that customers can go into and pick out what box of beer/other drinks they want before going to the cash register. Can kind of understand though.

Yeah, here too (see my previous post) but they're usually pretty blatantly custy accessible, and this one obviously isn't.

Gosh, those things are great on a hot summer day...

When in doubt...just say No. No we don't carry that. You may be wrong but it'll end the convo quickly.
