my e readers generally last a year or two but as it is a very generic reader and usually costs less than $50, it doesn't bother me. I usually buy it for the filing system as I have over 3000 books in 500 series folders. OK I love my books
My Kindle has lasted a while but I lost it...so I guess it depends who supplied it. Perhaps you got a bum one to start with.
My Nexus 7 (2012, first gen) is very faithful but the charge port got fucked up, probably my fault. $10 part and it's still trucking. (Thanks youtube!)
I've had several, first was a Kindle keyboard, hmm. about 5 or 6 years ago. My mom now has it and its still chugging along. I think in 2012, i bought the basic Kindle, refurbished. Also still working
Then a year or so later, Kindle Fire. Still working too.
Now, i use my ipad for pretty much everything but do take my basic Kindle when I travel. I figure if i download enough books ahead of time, no need for wifi, and if something happens to it, way cheaper to replace than my ipad.
