Hehe... Mines a series of three colored dots (yellow, green, red) on a grey bar! Can anyone figure that one out?
Isn't it supposed to be red, yellow then green?

DOH!! you beat me to it Mr. Rude. BUT...it doesn't have to be a mac. It could be a customized desktop that has a mac suite applied. I've done that before. It's been fun watching others try and figure out where to go to get to certain things on my computer.

I don't know why, but I always seem to get the comptech people who have to read out of the manual. I have no idea what I did to cause this, but I had apparently hit some combination of keys on my board to INVERT THE SCREEN IMAGE. That's right: the time/date was now upside down on the top left corner!
One of my trainers does this as a friendly reminder to lock your computer when leaving your desk (we do have confidential stuff on our systems, so the requirement is reasonable). On Windows XP, Ctrl-Alt-Up Arrow fixes it.

ETA: The "flip the image" trick does not work as described on my Win2K system. No, I do not feel a need to "upgrade" to XP, since my present system meets my needs just fine, thanks.

I can't get the inversion to work! I run XP pro... It'd be awesome to do this to all the computers in the house heh heh heh. Yeah, I have an evil streak

You realize that Microsoft just stopped support for all Win 98 and ME OS's right? It is a good idea to upgrade. Because 2000 will be next on the list.

The answer to that questions is to hit CTRL+ALT+DOWN ARROW to invert the image and CTRL+ALT+UP ARROW to bring it back to normal. Some can even use the side arrows to put the image sideways.
(This all depends on your graphic card.)
Does it matter which CTRL + ALT I'm pressing? Cause it's not working on my comp... Guess I'll just have to remember the combo and try it out on the Alienware at school.

Its not working on mine either. i am at work, running XP Pro, though, so maybe IT disabled that feature or something.

2000 won't be on the list, because 2000 is still the preferred IT department OS. Until Vista becomes solid like 2000 is and that is a long way and too many server apps don't like XP. It won't happen and Micro$oft won't bite the hand that feeds it. Without IT support, linux will take over. And Micro$oft wants the server market.

Micro$oft won't support Win98 because there nothing to "support", with all their patches Win98 is extremely stable. I hope nobody has Win ME, that thing needs to go the route of the E.T. game.

I haven't tried doing a update with my win98 machine, I should try since this is July and the suppose cut off for support. Beside, the files will still be on their ftp site, there are win3.1 files still there.
I've lost my mind ages ago. If you find it, please hide it.

I work in an IT department. Trust me, there's plenty to support. It's Microsoft. So long as there's a Microsoft, there will be things to support.

Oh I have so had that happen when the tech on the other end is the stupid one!! (and I'm sure it happens much more often that it's the customer that's stupid - but I'm not usually that person). Anyway - I always work on doing some stuff on my own - I'm not a computer genius but I'm not an idiot either - I do know how to fix some stuff. So before I let the techie help me on the help line I usually go through the shpeal of stuff I've done. I HATE when they say "okay now restart your computer" after I've said I've done that already - twice! I'm not a moron - and i TOLD you I did that already - so could we skip to page 6???

I just checked on my Win98 machine. Nope, you can still get "updates" via windows update. So it seems that Micro$oft is just trying to create a scare to get people that won't update to XP to spend money to update.

I go through that all the time. Because I can figure out exactly what is causing it, calling tech support is like pulling teeth. I really wish sometimes they have a different "tech" for tech folks.

Doesn't work for me, either. I only stopped using 98 after buying City of Villians... it only works on XP. I hate XP.
