We had a customer (since been banned from the store due to this incident) who liked to stop by while walking her dog... At 1am...
Which would have been fine if she left it outside.
But she liked to stuff her dog (some kind of terrier) in her jacket. Kinda obvious when part of your jacket is protesting being shoved in such a small place. But then, and here's the kicker, she would put it on the floor when she was out of site. No leash just let it loose. And she wouldn't pay attention to the dog at all while she was shopping.
When confronted she's always 'well he must have slipped his collar and walked right in to find me' 'he's so smart *que baby noises*'. This time her dog headed right to the pet food aisle and proceeded to ruin $100s of dollars worth of stock.
Picture this if you will.
Three bags of the largest bags we have ripped and strum all over the floor. Dog treat packs shredded all up and down the aisle, displays toppled over, dozens of glass containers (jams from another freaking aisle). The dog pissed on some bags of sugar and flour in yet another aisle so now we have to clean that up and the ruined stock and take everything off the shelf to scrub the floor under it and the shelf itself. Most of the products nearby were taken off just in case.
But she can't leave the
dog outside because 'he'll get lonely' or 'it's too cold out there for him' (then what are you doing walking him outside at this time of night lady?)
She even tried to get out of it by saying that he's a service dog. (Yet there's no vest, and she can't produce any paperwork or even tell us the organization that 'trained' him. Or what service he's supposedly providing) Honey, my brother has a service dog because he's autistic and occasionally gets angry and tries to self harm (head slamming against things, scratching at his arms, etc) or he tries to lash out at others. The dog we have is a huge freaking mastiff. My brother is quite short like the rest of our family. The dog's job is to literally knock him over when his anger is at a certain point and lay on him (effectively pinning him in place) until he calms down. She is extremely well behaved. They are trained that way. No service dog would go tearing through a store like that.
