    So, you're an adult, are you?

    At the Golden Arches if you order a coffee you get a lid on your cup, regardless of what you say.

    Well, I had a SC order a coffee last night and she told me "I'm a grown-up so I don't need a lid on my coffee."

    I politely said that policy states that she must have a lid so that she doesn't accidentally spill it.

    "I'm an adult, and adults don't spill their drinks."

    So, I get put together her coffee and put a lid on it before handing it to her. For an adult she sure did a fine job of acting like a petulant toddler when she started yelling that she didn't want a lid.

    I told her again that restaurant policy means she doesn't have any say in the matter and that I'd rather not lose my job over something she sees as so trivial, that accidents can and will happen regardless of how adult somebody thinks they are, and that actions speak louder than words.

    The sucktomer took her coffee and left the restaurant in a full-on flounce. All I could do is chuckle as she tripped on something in the parking lot and dropped her coffee. If she hadn't been such a raging bitch I would have been nice enough to give her a free replacement if she'd asked, but, well, such are things sometimes

    Yeah, I would've been like, "As an adult you are certainly capable and allowed to make the decision to remove your lid and keep it that way after we give you the drink, but as an employee that has to follow the rules set for my employment I have to serve it to you with the lid in place."

      Sarcasm dear, sarcasm. I’m well aware that dealing with civilians in any capacity will skin your faith in humanity alive, then pickle anything that remains so as to watch it shrivel up into an immortal husk thus reminding you of how dead inside you now are.

          This is me except I'm simpler: "I have to give it to you. What you do with it after is your business." And then I walk away.

              All I have to say is this: Define an adult in her world.

                        Well that lady was hospitalized for 8 days, but that's neither here nor there. Coffee comes with a lid. Deal with it and move on.
                        Replace anger management with stupidity management.
