      Those are return policies everywhere.

And since when does "not liking it" ever qualify for a return on things like games, movies, or music?

I'm pretty sure that a lot of places used to let people do that. In fact, when Windows 95 came out, there was an article all about it, including how a few people returned it because they didn't like it, or couldn't get it to work.

Predictably, most, if not all stores stopped allowing that because a lot of people were buying something, copying it, and returning it.

That's why it's a good idea to rent a game so you can try it to see if you like it well enough to buy it. makes sense to me.

SC Logic is quite similar to Corporate Logic in the simple sense that . . .

If it makes sense, it's not allowed.

Reminds me of an ad I saw in an old nintendo power.

This would be why I have Netflix. I can watch stuff and figure out if any of it is worth buying.

And seriously, what an idiot. I always love when "soandso who was here last night said it was ok" comes out to play.

Funny, I remember at least one story on actsofgord where he gets 'advice' from a customer that Nintendo thinks video game rentals are called the 'Gray market' and tantamount to theft. Hmmm.

EB Games are partially responsible for this mode of thinking (in Australia anyway, don't know about the US). They have a 7 day exchange policy on games. Unfortunately customers think every retailer should do this now.

Heh, that's funny. I'm a Nintendo fan, myself.

Not quite. Nintendo knows that the 'grey market' refers to the sale of new items through alternate channels. Resale of games are called the 'secondary market.'

I haven't run into any stories of Nintendo having issues with any type of grey market activity, but Sony has been quite heavy-handed in shutting down grey market channels. There was some big to-do when they shut down one channel that was being patronised by high-level Sony executives who couldn't get what they wanted through legitimate channels.
