Had a guy come in today who can only be classified as a Idiot.

He asked me for a "Plantronics Communicator." Remember this.

Me: I don't have that, unfortunately.

SC: Will you check?

*sigh* You know, I only work here. And this is MY department (not like he was asking me about furntiture or something). I think I know what I do and do not have here.

Me: OK *hops on staples.com*

SC: I already know it's online!

Me: Yes, but I need a SKU to be able to check.

SC: Well I know you have it. I checked online and it said you have it!

Me: Sir, our website doesn't list in-store availability of items.

SC *very annoyed*: I know how to use the web, you know!!! Look under "Plantronics Communicator."

As expected, nothing.

SC: I know it's there! Look under just "Plantronics." Your webiste SAID you had it in stock!

Me: Well like I said sir, our site doens't list in store availability.

SC: Is this the same site?

Me: Pardon?

SC: You're on the same site that I get at home?

Me: Yes sir. I am on staples.com. Like I said, it doesn't list in-store availability.

And again, still no luck.

SC: Check "Communicator"

Me: Fine.

SC: There! That's it! *points*

Me: This here? *pointing*

SC: YES! Where is that?



He was pointing out a POLYCOM Communicator.

*checks inventory*

Me: That item is online only.

SC: Are you sure?

*switches to Region view; no listings at all for that anywhere; F I status; swivels screen around*

Me: This is availability for almsot all of New England. No store has it. Online only, sir.

*SC walks away without thanking me for my wasted time*

He knows how to use the internet, but has no idea how to read things like whether or not it's available in the store.

SC: I checked online and it said you have it!

Ooh, I hate that sentence. All online tells you is that the distribution center has it to order. It does not tell you that whatever random store out of 800+ stores has it in stock just waiting for you to come and get it. Grrrr...
