Well, Mr SC, how about this for an idea? You NICELY ask if you can have the free pizza, but pay the extra topping price for some meat sprinkled on top? Seems like a win for both sides of the deal to me.

SCs always stun me with their ignorance, of the fact that being nice gets you a better deal than being nasty.

Always be pleasant to food providers, they keep you alive!

How it works is simple: Whenever the Washington Redskins have a game, the very next day after the game, all day long, you get FREE toppings equal to the number of touchdowns scored by the Skins! So, if the Skins scored 3 touchdowns during the game, you get 3 FREE toppings on your pizza (when purchased at the regular price for a cheese pizza, natch!) And if the Skins actually WON, you get DOUBLE the toppings FREE! So that would be 6 FREE toppings if they won the game they scored 3 touchdowns in!!!
      --SNIP--

Can Baltimore Ravens fans take advantage of that deal? Or Dallas Cowboys fans? I have NO IDEA. You'd have to ask at your local Papa Johns.

Does this mean that as a Niners fan, I'd actually owe Papa Johns some pizza after the game?

Uh, what pizza place offers free toppings? I've never heard of one. I'd be there all the time. Meat costs a company money to buy. In order to make this money back, plus more (because that's what a business does), they CHARGE for it. What a dumbass.
There is a Pizza Place out here where live called 5 Buck Pizza you can get a medium pizza with all the toppings you want for just 5 bucks (6 for deliver).

And I have NO idea if that promotion is offered in any other markets.
Probably a good thing that it isn't being offered around here. I mean with the Pats averaging 40 pts a game and winning all 7 games so far. I think there would be some very sad Papa John's owners around here.
The only words you said that I understood were "His", "Phone" and "Ya'll". The other 2 paragraphs worth was about as intelligible as a drunken Teletubby barkin' come on's at a Hooter's waitress.

I don't even make the pizzas. I deliver the food, that's it.

It's not just a pizza place- although that's what it mainly sells. There's all types of salads and pastas, that kind of thing- they have delicious shrimp scampi.

And I like cheese pizza- or spinach best. The spinach adds just a bit of flavour that it wouldn't otherwise have.

Usually we don't have these kind of deals- but it's the anniversary of it being open for so many years.

I guess I'll have to ask my local Papa John's if they'll give me double toppings after Manning's 5th sack every Giants game >> Cuz I sure could use that pizza every sunday

Only sports-team based food promotion I know of around here is when the Milwaukee Brewers win 12 games in a row, George Webb's in Milwaukee gives away free hamburgers.

This happened exactly once, in 1987. I read somewhere some fans still have those free hamburgers frozen in their freezers.

I've never seen it advertised around here (I'm in Chicago Bears territory, myself) but Papa John's does offer all kinds of crazy deals.
                  "Da Bearz!"

Yeah, like I said, it might be something they only do in the DC market.
I know some places will let you get the free cheese pizza, then pay the difference between that and a Meat Lover's to cover the cost of the toppings, but that's one of those "Yay!" if it happens moments, and oh well if it doesn't. But maybe that's because I'm sane. :-p
If you were sane, would you be spending so much time on this messageboard?

                  Kidding!

Yeah, that's a good theory. And we all know SCs don't exactly qualify as sane, anyway.

The closest I've seen to that in Dallas, is free coffee at certain gas stations (maybe QT? Don't hold me to that.) and I think a discounted pizza at Papa Johns if the Dallas Desperados (Arena Football League) win a game.
And that first one would do me no good since I don't drink coffee.

                  Mmm, pizza.

We can't get pizza delivered by Papa John's or Pizza Hut (which is really a shame, because we LOVE Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza). Something about a delivery driver being shot and killed here in our apartment complex a few years back...
OK, that's usually a sign that it's time to move to a different neighborhood.

But, then again, 99 times out of 100, I pick the pizza up myself these days! Why? Couple reasons:
                  1. Ever since the big gasoline hike from Hurricane Katrina onwards, all the pizza places in this area have started CHARGING EXTRA for delivery! They usually say it's a fuel surcharge, and that most of that money goes to the driver for his/her gas tank.
                  2. If they deliver it, you have to tip the driver.
So, by picking it up myself, I save a few bucks just on the tip and the "fuel surcharge". But I also like picking it up because the Pizza Boli's in my hometown has carry-out specials, where you get things like a Large 2-Topping Pizza for only $7.99 (delivered, it would be $11.99, + tip, + possible "fuel surcharge"!) So, I save a bunch of money by picking it up myself!
Domino's (bleh) will deliver, but they make us meet them at the curb.
Only time I've had delivery places do that is when I was ordering for a store I worked at in a mall, and the driver was too LAZY to walk it into the mall and deliver it to our STORE, like he's supposed to!

Here in the DC area, Domino's has 2 deals they do; the 5-5-5 deal and the 7-7-7 deal. The 5-5-5 deal is 3 or more Medium Pizzas for $5 each. The 7-7-7 deal is 3 or more Large Pizzas for $7 each. Sometimes they limit you to 1 topping per pizza, other times it's "unlimited" toppings. And they charge extra for deep dish, and they charge extra for delivery.

But, when you need a LOT of pizza for a party, or an office lunch, or whatever, they're great deals!

And besides, I actually don't mind Domino's Pizza. It's not my favorite, but it's far from the worst I've ever had (that "honor" would fall on either Sbarro's, or Pizza Hut the last couple times I had their pizza... it actually made me sick! )

You might actually be surprised... those deals usually bring enough business in that they make money on the VOLUME of sales. At my last job, I worked right next door to a Jerry's Subs & Pizza store. On Monday nights, they have a special where you get a Large Cheese Pizza for only $4.99 after 3 PM (toppings are, of course, extra!) And most Monday nights, they make a LOT of money from that deal! It's not the $5.00 pizzas that make them a ton of money... it's all the OTHER ITEMS people buy to go with them! Subs, fries, salads, sodas, etc... the $5.00 pizza is basically a loss leader that gets people in the door, so they can buy the other stuff!

I know this because I ate there ALL THE TIME due to convenience, and I talked to the owners on almost a daily basis.

lol yeah if i want two little ceasars pizzas (one ham one pepperoni) thats only 5 dollars each (10 dollars before tax) but since i hate meat pizza (except i can stomach ham so ill get two slices of that) i also spend another 10 dollars on some wings and bread sticks, maybe 15 if i want some extra for latter. so yeah some deals like that are great!!! (i could still get a large three topping for only 8 bucks) and they still make money.

ok, whoever it is that lives in the area where you still have the 555 and the 777 are really lucky... they discontinued that here a few months ago... which sucks because they were like half a mile from where I live and on my way home from work (that is when they don't close the road to the freeway for arbitrary reasons).

                        mmm...pizza...

my personal favorite: no sauce, brush the crust with olive oil, sprinkle with queso majorero, top with serrano ham. yum.

of course, at ~$15/lb for serrano ham, and ~$20/lb for queso majorero (not even getting into the price of really good olive oil), this is a pretty expensive pizza. i'd about fall over if i ever saw it offered in a restaurant.

Actually... Or Dallas Cowboys fans? I have NO IDEA. You'd have to ask at your local Papa Johns.
The majority of the Dallas area PJ's used to be corporate owned. Guess what? Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, owns a 49% stake in the Dallas PJ's now (corporate owns the remaining 51%). Some of the stores in the smaller suburbs (mostly south of Dallas) have always been franchise. Ft Worth area I'm clueless on.

You can still get that offer for unlimited* toppings. The fine print states "* Unlimited up to 5 toppings".

tacohuman, you would fall over if you saw how many different olive oils we sell at my store - ranging from $5 per bottle to nearly $60. I managed to break a small case of oil the other night (thankfully it was the cheaper stuff)
