  • Caught a Shoplifter today

    well technically last night.

    I work Saturday/sunday midnight (I loathe it) at a 7-11.

well last night I was cleaning up after someone decided to destroy a piece of our chili machine and an very inept cashier who works there didn't notice all night. and I came in to a mess I had to clean up.... later I'll tell that story.

Anyways arround 1 am a guy in an argyle sweater comes in. He goes to the candy ailse... I am not watching himn on the camera's as I'm still cleaning up messes left by my rather inept co-worker...

He comes to the counter and as I'm walking from the back of the stoer arround the counter I notice he has a piece of beef jerky sticking out of his pocket.

My first words to him are "Did you come in with that Jack Links?" to which he respons "What?" "The Jack Links Beef Jerky in your front pants pocket"

after I ring up his coffee... he says "I can't lie to you" and coughs it up and pays for it.

After reviewing the tape with my manager... he stole a ton more stuff other than the jerky I caught him for.

What's really annoying is that my mother decided to chew me out because of what I did saying that she's always afraid someone's gonna pull a gun on me and shoot me because I did what I did.

Well your mom may be right, it's not worth getting hurt over beef jerky.

However, I'm glad you made the guy pay for at least one of the things he stole.

Acctually my mom is more worried that it'll be some random idiot trying to rob the store or worse someone who i've "wronged" somehow (namely that I card people on a regular basis) will follow me home and do me bodily harm.

I know working at a 7-11 isnt' a job I'd die over, no job is.

But taking things to an obcessive level that she worries about me everyday and that I might not come home because of something she saw on TV showing security camera footage of a robbery or something.... yikes.

the amount of cash in a register isn't worth challenging a robber, don't most gas stations refuse anything larger than a $20?

what your mom is refering to is "The Worst Case Senario."

Your two minutes late for dinner? Dead in a ditch.
Have a pain in your stomache? Cancer.
ID someone at work? Shot in the face.

See how it goes? It's something I've noticed most mothers do.
