Powdered non-dairy creamer used to be exceedingly flammable, as well. As good as flash powder (which requires either a magician's licens or demolitions license to get). But I believe they changed the formula.

Also, don't mess with wax vapors, either. If you've ever had a candle making kit, you'll have read a ton of warnings about the dangers of wax vapor.

And how. An empty grain silo will go up like a fuel-air bomb if you put a flame into it before the dust is settled.
Oh my, yes. You still see stories once in awhile about a silo exploding because the grounding line was broken and a tiny spark popped at the wrong time. This can be a danger even in silos that have sat empty for decades, if they are dry enough to stir up dust.

Oddly enough, so is baking flour. Seriously.
I actually passed a slow evening with a candle and some old baking flour. It was lots of fun watching the flares.

No, the person who needed the "don't try this at home" disclaimer was one of my roomies at the time. He put the metal catch bowl holding the candle directly on the linoleum, and melted it, causing us a $500 replacement charge when we moved out.

If you're a poster here, we generally assume (I do, at least) you can put "Fire + Explosive = BOOM" together on your own.
Besides, the stuff you shouldn't try at home is the stuff that's the most fun!

Of course it didn't. It's too wet. Now, if they had the gas tank almost completely empty, and did the same thing, I suspect it might make a rather satisfying boom. Liquid gasoline isn't flammable; gaseous fuel, however, is exceedingly so.

Yet one more reason I am still here.

In 1978 I was driving my Ford Pinto when I was rear-ended. by a dump truck. I had a full tank of gas.

September 2006 I was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. I had a full tank of gas.

Yes, I was brought up to keep the gas tank full. Thank goodness!
Everything will be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end.

Remember kids, don't try this at home. even though it looks really cool and we're giving you step-by-step instructions.
