  • "Brand X' airlines, may I help you?

    Customer calls to confirm reservation:
Do you need my confirmation code?

Me:That will be helpful if you have it, if not, a travel date, destination and last name can also be used

I can't find the confirmation code...and I'm not sure when exactly I'm traveling, can you look me up by just my last name?

No, I'm afraid that's not possible without a travel date, origin city and destination

Oh...well, I know I'm flying from here to California at the end of the month, look it up from that!

Ok....first of all where is 'here' and where in California are you flying to?

I'm in Commack so it would either be White Plains, Stewart-Newburgh or NYC and I'm flying to either San Diego, Fresno, LAX or San Jose...could be Oakland or SFO as well

Uh-huh..... Sir, I am trying to help you, but without at least basic information to search with I won't be able to find your reservation.

What do you mean basic information?! I just told you I'm flying from New York to California, what else do you need? How am I supposed to remember all of those details, my secretary makes all of my travel plans and she is sick today!!! If you don't want to do your job then get me a supervisor

Well Mr. Passenger, I just happen to be a supervisor and I will be more than happy to do my job with the information you can supply me with to find your reservation. As I stated previously, at least SOME of the specific details need to be provided to us in order to look you up. Can you provide me with anything else in addition to what you have already given me?

Well, you can just kiss my a**, I am going to fly brand X from now on...I don't know why I fly brand Y, you never do anything right!!!

Mr. Passenger, are you scheduled to fly on brand Y airlines now?

YES!! WHY THE HELL DO YOU THINK I'M CALLING BRAND Y TO CONFIRM MY FLIGHT SCHEDULE?!?!?!

Oh, I see...in that case you might want to dial 1-800 *** ****, this is brand X airlines and if you do decide to start flying with us in the future I'll be happy to assist you then.

Brand X? That can't be right, are you sure?

Yes Mr. Passenger I am quite sure...brand X

    Oh 'profanity'...CLICK!

        More foolishness on the phones

SC: Do you need me to read the numbers off of my credit card to purchase the ticket?
<thinking..no, just hold it up to the phone and I'll look into the earpiece of my headset and read it> Yes, please....

SC: *Happened to be a well known female celebrity* I have a window seat for my flight to JFK, that will NEVER do! I just had my hair done for the show and it will get messed up by the wind when we take off if I have a window seat!
umm, the windows on an airplane don't roll down, there is no way the wind is going to be getting in through any of them <thinking it just HAD to be a crank caller right about then>.
SC: Are you sure? I remember feeling a breeze the last time I had a window seat!
Yes Ms. Celebrity, when you are on the plane look up next to the light above your seat and you will see a little nozzle. Twist that nozzle clockwise and it will turn off the breeze.
SC: Really? boy do I feel dumb now!....click

I just love it when know-it-alls get theirs . . . especially when they give it to themselves! Thanks for this story.

I never heard of anybody who didn't know where they were flying to. I don't know how close those airports are, but come on!

Just be thankful he is a brand Y customer, not one of yours.

I'm pretty sure there are at least 3 or 4 airports in and around NYC, so if he was never told which one. . .

Well yeah, but he gave six possible destination airports. Are they really that close that you wouldn't know? Like, I don't know California, but I assume at least some of those airports are kind of a long way from each other. If he's going to a specific city within Cf, surely he'd go the closest?

Oh heck, maybe I'll just give up. I really don't know the US well enough. Can I just change it then to "if you don't know which airport at least within two or three, they're not going to look it up for you"?

In nyc: JFK International, LaGuardia International
Around: Newark International, a few smaller airfields in NJ

The NYC airports were not the issue, his not having a clue where in california he was flying to became the root of the problem.

In the vicinity of Los Angeles alone <Orange County (SNA), Ontario(ONT), Burbank (BUR), Long Beach (LGB), Los Angeles Int. (LAX).
In the bay area: Oakland (OAK) San Jose (SJC) and San Francisco Int. (SFO) as well as Monterrey (MRY)

To expect that one is going to check every single flight from all of the mentioned airports in NYC to all of the above destinations and for multiple days as well just isn't going to happen.

Probably the wind generated through the gaping hole between her ears. Geez - just when I start to think there's a slim chance people aren't really this stupid...

yep one fang, they gave me 3 choices when I flew in to NYC for the first time (I always try and fly into JFK now) the airports are close but the population is HUGE

I still think Auckland airport and Vancouver (YVR) are by far the nicests ive seen in the world.

These cities are widely scattered across California. San Diego and San Francisco are approximately 450 air miles apart, much further by road.

This yo-yo doesn't even know if he's flying into Northern California or Southern California, the Cental Valley or the Coast!
