We were always trained on the principles of L.I.S.A. & B.O.B. L.I.S.A. stands for Look Inside Always & B.O.B. satnds for Bottom of Basket. It simply means that if they come through your register with something big like luggage then we have to unzip it & look inside the thing cause you don't know if they didn't put anything inside thinking that you're not going to look.
PLUS we always had to make sure we checked the bottom of their cart so we wouldn't miss ringing something up.
On busy days it gets difficult to do but that's when scammers are at their peak. Thinking that you're too busy so you won't catch them.

Now wait a minute...when you mentioned the skateboards she said the kids brought them into the store, even though they most certainly didn't.

And then she says you should've reminded her about the shoes?!

Teh stoopid is strong with that one. Very strong.

        To Zoe:

I hate to have to say this, but I'm having difficulty reading your writing style. Could you possibly... um, I don't know... "clean it up" (for lack of a better term) a bit?

By no means was/am I trying to be rude! No offense taken, I hope.

        Thank you.

After reading a few of these I'm assuming that English is not your first language is it Zoe?
English's sentence structure is different from practically every other language on the planet. Not an easy language to learn, even when it's your first!

            That never crossed my mind.

            Sorry.

              I think it is.

Nothing wrong with having a signature style. I was able to understand the post clearly.

Took me a second readthrough.. but I understood it..

The reason why LP told her to ignore it.. to add to the charge of theft.

Most likely. Walking out with it, after the cashier and LP having noticed it, adds to the intent factor. That way she can't claim she was going to pay for it. If she was headed out, and made no attempt to pay for it, the charge of theft is going to stick all the better.

I had a difficult time reading it. Even after a couple of times reading it over, I'm still confused as to what exactly went down.

Just a reminder to all that, dyslexic or not, English as a second language or not, this site offers a spellcheck.

I had a couple at the self checkouts who took great liberty in not scanning items and just putting them in their cart. Naturally they waited until I was distracted with other customers so that I didn't see what was going down. Kudos to my coworker, who saw it (they weren't being very discreet) and gave a heads up.

Later, as husband/boyfriend/all-around-thieving-ass was rescanning items, the woman has the nerve to mutter under her breath that it was the scanner's fault things weren't getting scanned properly. Our sanners are annoying and jam up often, but that hardly gives you the right to freely steal from our store, which was clearly their intent from the beginning.

Just so you know, this couple had TWO carts, yet only scanned 19 items??? Ya right. So, they ultimately end up with appx 30 items and left the second cart full of....you guessed it..all the expensive steak, chicken etc..behind. They clearly didn't want expensive meat. Not if they had to pay for it.

Our policy is not to accuse scammers and to remain polite. Heaven forbid we might offend some thieving asshats. Grrr.

I'd always heard that L.I.S.A. was "left in store aisle" (i.e. decided they didn't want it, and dropped it wherever they happened to be) - a housekeeping (and wastage if it was refrigerated/frozen stuff at a grocery store) issue, not a shoplifting thing.

BTW, did they tell you about M.I.T.C.H. also? That's "merchandise in the child's hand".

Nice one on helping to catch a shoplifter, nice to see all lending a hand catching thieves, personally I think there should be no difference between types of theft, it either is or it isn't no theft by finding/shoplifting etc. One rule for one offence.
A PSA, if I may, as well as another.

That's leet-speak. A lot of people here use it from time to time. And I was addressing that to the shoplifting lady the OP was referring to, not to the OP.

I also notice the OP is no longer a member.

I didn't have trouble understanding the OP's post.
