    I had this happen before.

Woman came in and won $400 on lottery.

She keeps asking why it's taking so long for us to get the money for her (it took almost an hour and a half for 2 registers to build up the necessary money).
If I had just won $400, I think I'd be perfectly happy to wait that long, come back later, or, the best option of all, just take the money order.

She just won $400 - what is there to complain about???

      Had somebody at work chirrup

      'Crazylegs, you'll know this...'

You just know its going to be obscure.....

SC: How much does it cost to stay at (motel down the road)?
I often get people asking me about hotel rates around Key West.

CUSTOMER: "Hey, how much are the hotels around here?"
        JESTER: "I really don't know."
        CUSTOMER: "Why not?"
JESTER: "Because I live here, have an apartment, and so never need the hotels."
        CUSTOMER: "..."

...the real zinger is when I'm walking down some random street and people ask me how to operate the parking meters or about parking restrictions.
I often get people asking me for directions or other things when I am walking down the street. I guess I look like I know what I'm talking about. (I do get amused when they ask me stuff like this and I am wearing a whole bunch of ARIZONA State University stuff....) If they're nice about it, I'll give them the best directions/info I can. If they're asshats.....they might get sent to Miami. Or worse.

In retrospect I should've just said screw it and printed the money order. given it to her and said "There's your money, take it or leave it."
Why yes. Yes you should have.

At my last job, we always had tourists to come thru. I got asked directions to so many places I lost count! Sometimes, I didn't mind giving them, but I don't know where everything is. I felt like I should've had 'MapQuest' stamped on my forehead!

I feel your pain. I remember that all too well from my retail hell days. According to some of the SCs we used to get, I was supposed to know the price of everything in the store, I was supposed to know EVERY department, I was supposed to know why the vending machine outside was not working when it was broken, I was supposed to be a walking mapquest.com, etc.

In our state we have this break down of lottery winnings

Free Instant Tickets and $1 through $500 is paid by the retailer. But there is no stipulation that it has to be paid in cash, which means you can pay out via money order if you wish.

any winnings $501+ (which means $600 winners to Million dollar jackpots) means you have to file a claim with the lottery comission and go to a lottery comission office to get your pay out. Which will be more than likely in the form of a check.
