  • Holiday Hotel Suckiness

With this being a holiday week, many of our regular business guests are taking a week off. They have been replaced with holiday guests.

Typically with business guests, they are being direct billed or they have good credit cards. I would say about 1/3 of the guests I checked in tonight (I am working the night shift right now) had declined credit cards. Somehow that's my fault apparently. This one guest said I ruined their Thanksgiving because I wouldn't let them get a room with a declined card. It seemed like almost everyone that checked in tonight was sucky. They were either rude or had bad credit cards.

Although some business travellers can be sucky, atleast they are able to pay! I can't wait till we get back to normal again.

You should have told that SC that he ruined your Thanksgiving because he couldn't keep his credit cards paid up to date.

LOL if I had a dollar for every Christmas, Thanksgiving, or other Holiday I have ruined. Or if I had a dollar for every time I "took food out of a child's mouth", I would be quite wealthy right now.

I once "ruined Christmas" by running out of boxed chocolates. I personally think the SC ruined his own Christmas by leaving his gift shopping until 3pm Christmas day.

I ruined a (is there such a thing as an OLD Yuppie) couples entire day yesterday because the card reader on their gas pump couldn't read the husband's card.

They had to use the wife's.

Much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
I have a map of the world. It's actual size.

if you think people would have a credit card with high credit when they travel aboard.... think again
Ive got this German couples .... on honeymoon.... only have $500 per day limit.... and they said they only have 1 credit card....

that really bugs me.... traveling aboard... with very little cash... and a very limited $500 a day limit credit card.... and thats a honeymoon? what kinda moron is that?
worst... why picked a hotel cost $200 an evening for 6 evenings.

of course after we ran the night audit. the cc just didnt go thru. and they complaint about we put too much on hold on their credit card, and they have no money to spend... and worst, one of the managers double locked their door until they find some form of payment to pay for the room and incidentals....

Stupid people believe that giving a hotel a bunk credit card is acceptable for the stay, because they will "pay for it" when they check out.

Really? I have faith in you coming to the front desk on Sunday to pay us $300 considering the credit card has not a single dollar on it, right buddy, throw your sob story at someone that cares, because I really don't.

Thanksgiving is the best day for, no one at the hotel because all guests are at there families house or where ever, thats leaves me and my parents time to be together at the hotel.

To be fair, a few marriages would be a lot better if they skipped the expensive honeymoon and started with their cash on the positive side of the ledger. It would save aggrivations (and arguments) about lack of cash later.

But that doesn't sound like someone trying to make a responsible start.
