Well, today I went into work bright and early for another day of sales. We were hella busy again today. Management was crazy happy, though, which made the day more pleasant.

Our sales total for yesterday was over $650,000. Happy management=happy associates.

Oh yeah, we are still recovering from yesterday because we were so busy. Today I worked in mainly tools/lawn and garden and toted out about a shopping cart's worth of merchandise from other departments that been stuffed into shelves or into tool storage chests, etc. Lazy customers. And the amount of trash! Good god. Soda cans crushed between shelves, empty food wrappers. Disgusting.

Fortunately, my Black Friday was pretty skewed in the other direction. Yes, I had one SC call that dealt with setting up wireless on a Vista computer, but that's about it. I took probably 20 calls yesterday. That's 2, MAYBE 3 calls an hour. In fact, in retrospect, it would probably have been more like 4 calls an hour for the first few hours, then slow down enough that I took MAYBE 1 call an hour for the last few hours after lunch.

No, I'm not trying to brag. Honestly, I thought it would be much MUCH worse...and I'm sure Christmas will be (yes, I'm working Christmas). In any case, THIS gives me a good idea of how it probably progressed.

I work for THE purse store at one of the outlet centers that opened at midnight.

This is my new job, just started in October and I LOVE it.

So the line started at 11pm. We didn't open until 11:55pm. We had a line outside the store until 3:30am.

I was on register from 12am-6am. Could not get off to save my life.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat. It was so much fun.

The only SC's we had were those that made up their own prices. We put them in their place real quick. LOL
hehe...as per my earlier post, if you work where I think you do, I was one of the customers waiting outside from 10-11:30 when the store I was at opened!...It was fun, and I actually sent CS an email, telling them how great their staff was, etc. etc etc. during the midnight madness rush....

I was one of the crazy ones...up at 6:30 and went to *gasp* TEH MALL! It actually wasn't that crowded at the 2 stores my dad and I hit (we both got what we were after, the new DS Zelda bundle and a cheap GPS). The small gaming store I got my DS at wasn't that crowded; only about a dozen people and everybody was polite and in fairly good spirits about everything (that's gamers for ya).

After I got my DS I went over to Sears...EEK! More suckitude in 15 minutes than I've seen so far this year at the game store. Talked briefly to a new employee who just started his job there that morning...poor guy. I wanted to give him this website but didn't have a chance.

I had a guy call me too incompetent to work in a job that even a monkey could do because I was out of stock of something. He also referred to me as a huge fat whtie bitch to my manager, who then banned him from the store.

Glad to hear you made it back in mostly one piece. I have to ask though - what sort of business do you work for that can pull in well over 500K in a day?

Black Friday was busy at the pizza place I work. for the first time we did NOT get very many delivery orders for the Mall employees. the last two years was crazy as soon as we opened. calls came in fast for all the shops open since 5am but not this year.

over all for the whole day (and I worked most of the day)) we did $1000 over our budget even taking into account our high budgeted sales because of Black Friday. the evening was BUSY as people started to say "I have shopped til I dropped and I AM NOT COOKING DINNER, OUDER SOMETHING FOR DELIVERY".
I'm lost without a paddle and headed up SH*T creek.

Instead they skirted box office, walked past the restrooms, got to their theatre, and proceeded to ream out a random usher who happened to be there that they had "wasted" their $75 (US) because they could have easily snuck in.

Now, going on this customer's logic, every time you want to buy something, you have "wasted" your money if you could have stolen it instead. Did they realise that this is what they were actually saying?
