  • 'kg' means 'dollar'

The boss bought some cheap laundry powder, so we're selling it cheap. $2.50 for a 1 kg packet, which is slightly better than the supermarket price for that brand.

One SC demanded to have it for $1 because "that's the price on the tag". I didn't believe her (having put the tags there myself), so she went and got the tag and showed me. For some strange reason she thought the part that says "1kg" was the price. I had to explain several times that 1 kilogram is the weight of the paket (even pointing out where it says that on the packaging) before she finally got it.

Must be the "New Math" I keep hearing about....lol. "Ok, boys & girls. ONE Kilogram is equal to one moldy dollar." "How do I know this you ask?" "well a SUCKY CUSTOMER said so..so it MUST be TRUE!!"....LOL.

      We's calls that "Ebonic Math"

That's where you add numbers together and get whatever result you want, regardless of whether or not it actually makes sense.

I thought that was fuzzy math, where you can take one million barrels of oil, an imaginary WMD, and get a troop casuality count that's steadily climbing?

Or, for those non political people...

Take two ounces of cocaine, .45, and three cops and NOT get 25 to life?

The town where I work is college town. The local university's initials, which are emblazoned on every surface available in his place, are UK.

On the backs of many of the books we sell there are printed three prices, for the US, Canada and Britain. Often it will say something like 14.95 US /11.00 UK/16.96 Canada.

I'm sure you can see where this is going. "But the UK price is lower!" Yeah, in the UNITED KINGDOM. You don't get a lower prince because you attend the college.

Also, it is not cheaper. That is a POUND SYMBOL, idiot.

Oh, that's perfectly feasible. You see, the other result of that equation is six feet under.

Plus, you reminded me of two song fragments:

"down came the troopers, one, two, three" (from Waltzing Matilda)

            and

"I didn't want to shoot Kennedy, or that copper Lonnigan." (from Poor Ned)

            1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
            2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
            3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
            4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.

Becky, I wouldn't have believed it myself until it happened.

"15.85? But the UK price is only $11.00!"

With the US Dollar being crap and the Pound doing especially well I'd sell it to him at the Pound price, converting it to dollars and charge him something like 23.00.

Of course, 1kg is the price in laundry powder.

that reminds me of another post, where the person gave the checker $1 for a $9.something bill and got upset because the checker couldn't do the math to figure out how to make it work.
