BACKGROUND:
Illinois has been requiring more documentation than prior years and demanding paper copies of returns. That happened to several of my regulars--at least I got the notice in late April
I worked the franchise owner's base of operation office. The (I'll call her C) of that office told of one SC caught up in that nonsense. The SC demanded that C sign the forms for her. Just one problem: that's illegal without POA for tax matters. C said she told SC about that but SC was having none of it.
Illinois requires two witness or one notary for tax POA

Federal POA just has to be signed (go figure)

Well rather than drag her ass to the office to sign the docs, SC complained to the local Better Business Bureau and demanded the phone number for Corporate.
This may be a long season for C.
