  • Rock Band

So I played Rock Band this weekend at my cousin's house and it's official- my Husband and I are addicted! We have to wait until next month to buy it for PS2, but it got me wondering about all the salespeople out there having to deal with this. Has it been a huge hassle keeping it in stock? Have people been freaking out because they have to wait until a week before Xmas to get it on PS2?

I need stories until I can indulge my fix!

We won't get any in stock that weren't preordered until after Christmas, I think. So, of course, everyone who didn't preorder one is pissed off that they're going to have to drive an hour to the nearest Best Buy to get one.

And also, of course, most of the people who are doing the most bitching are the people who declined to preorder it when asked. Meh.

We got them in and promptly sold them out. We have individual copies, but not the $170 bundles. Those are gone.

We can't keep Rock Band in stock where I work, either. We do have it set up in the store and it's a lot of fun to play and watch others play. I don't think I'm going to spend $170 on it. I'm a Guitar Hero freak anyway.

I'm going to wait until EA gets the bugs fixed with the guitar and potentially the drumset before I drop the money down. The guitar is too flimsy and the drums are too easy to break.

Do you need to get the bundle if you alreay have sing star mics and the guitar? I really don't need any more lying around the house (we have 2 guitars, I had to ban H2B from buying the Guitar hero 3 guitar as well)

Well- I think you can use any USB mic, and you can use the old guitars...

However, the drum kit (and everything else separate) won't be available until way after the holidays, so until then, the bundle is the only way you can have access to all the instruments.

Also, the RockBand guitars are designed slightly differently. I actually think they are easier to use because the buttons are flatter and it is easier to do those evil hammer on/pull off slides. AND there is a separate set of fret buttons along the bottom to make the solos easier- they allow you to play the solo part without strumming at all. (I haven't tried it, but my SO has played around with it a little)

                        Happy Playing!

You can use the standard headset mic for the 360 version, also. Mine worked just fine plugged into the controller.

Speaking of peripherals and Rock Band...check this out.

Short version - Harmonix has a patch to be able to use Guitar Hero 3 guitars w/Rock Band, sent it to Sony ready to be released - but Activision is being accused of blocking it.
