A suicidal basilisk is one that likes to look at itself in mirrors in order to get stoned.
Yeah, there's a reason I call my falsie Medusa. She takes particular offense to squirrels. Everytime she hoods up at a squirrel everyone and everything around me freezes.

I wish that I could give you meaningless Internet points for this!
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

When the late husband was in Thailand with his Uncle Sam, he kept a gecko in his sleeping quarters. It ate the mosquitos. Having a pet gecko was infinitely preferable to anti-malarial medication.

Nah, the anti-malarial medication is fine if you add a little lime.

          And some gin.

.... Leave it to the Brits to make a cocktail out of a necessary medication--quinine tonic.

A little bit of gin makes the medicine go down,
            makes the medicine go down,
            makes the medicine go down,
A little bit of gin makes the medicine go down in a most delightful way.

My wife's neighbor was told to have a glass of gin once a day for medical reasons to help her relax. She hated the taste of it. My wife showed her how to make a martini. It went down al lot easier after that.
