We had an SC at the store today (who I gladly did not have to deal with) who the MOD simply referred to as a "fucking moron." The guy was trying to return a bunch of toner cartridges he purchased online over TWO YEARS AGO, without anything but the shipping invoice that did not list prices or method of payment. Not only did he insist on getting a FULL refund, but that we refund his company credit card. The whole thing was fishy as hell, though I know I never got the full story.
But the one thing that I remember vividly was him declaring to the MOD that the statute of limitations for returns requires us to take back stuff up to two years after purchase (conveniently, the amount of time it had been since he bought this toner).
This term, "statute of limitations." I do not think you know what it means. In fact, I know you do not. Statutes of Limitations place a time limit on when certain civil or criminal actions can be brought against someone. It has nothing at all to do with returning ancient toner we don't even sell anymore, YOU IDIOT.
Second, to the best of my knowledge, there is no law anywhere regarding retail return policies (the closet I can think of is the Lemon Law, but that doesn't apply here). As long as the policy is posted, it can be whatever we want it to be. If we say "all sales final NO MATTER WHAT" that's fine as long as it's posted.
Therefore, sir, you fail. YOu can take your toner and shove it where the sun don't shine for all I care, so long as you take it with you.
I think in the end we took only some of the cartridges back.
Man, the manager was MAD at that guy. I mean actually seething with rage. even the Box Art Nazi didn't get him this worked up.
