I would like to put my two cents in about being on the other side - I'm a consumer also and if someone calls in on my line with an attitude, I have no desire to do them a favor - that's what it is when i waive a fee or take my time to solve their concern instead of pushing my sales and handle time so I can make enough to feed my family and move up in the company. It's better to be nice because it is up to the rep what you get - and if it's their last day on that job, as turnover is extremely high, you may not want to be rude. Customers tend to think the job is easy and have the approach that this call is the first and only one of the day, and that's not true. Managers usually know less than the reps because they are not on the phones and with constant change, can't keep up. Requesting a supervisor is usually useless, they will tell you the same thing - and that's usually all the customer wants. Usually you are also not speaking with a supervisor but another rep, who for several hours takes calls to help out with the call volume. Complaining about charges on your bill and your wait time to get to me is also pointless - what do I care? plus, I have no control over these things. And people, stop complaining about "all these charges" - try voting, I don't make your state laws. And cussing at me is just business as usual. Stuff happens - I correct the bill. Complain to soemone else, I can't make your bills look different, your hold time shorter and some appreciation would be nice once and a while - I have my own family and bills. And by the way, it's not my problem if you're not on the account, that's your deal. I have to ask for your SSN or DOB to verify you are you - makes me wonder, how many of those who complain about this would like it if someone accesses their account and gets information they should not have - would they complain then too? I think so. and if you called the wrong number and can't read your terms and conditions, guess what? You had your chance to do so. The most obnoxious thing is hearing someone complain that their service is off because no one reminded them to pay their bill - hey, doofus, that's your credit, not mine! And you did not receive the bill or your check bounced because you did not have the funds available? You knew there would be a bill, the service is not free and your funds need to be available for longer than 6 days! By the way, I am also not the postal service, so if your check is late because you live in BFE and your postal delivery is not timely, go yell at someone else. And if you can't listen to me explaining proration, then don't waste both of our time - take a math class. I am right, I know what you will bitch about before you say it and I am just waiting for my next break to talk about what a meathead you are! Oh yeah, and talking down to me because you are a doctor won't make your bills lower. I really don't care how much money you make or who you are, I love making you feel like an idiot! That's really my only form of entertainment for the moment, so don't tempt me! And sue me! Those threats and hearing you write down my name and record the exact time don't scare me, it gives me the chance to hang up on you and shut you up while suggesting you get legal counsel. I help those who treat me with the same respect extensively, to the point of working off the clock without recognition. I am a person just like you, not your punching bag of the day, and I do not work for you, so I could care less what you want to happen immediately! I mute you and let my co-workers get a laugh out of your assumption that yelling at me will get something done, and requesting my supervisor is very entertaining as I get to listen to you lie about how I don't know my job because you assume I have a magic wand to fix your issue, plus my supervisor and i get a good laugh out of you there too. I treat all customers with respect, but start your attitude and I will take out all my frustration of the day on you. There's the reality, and my job is stressful and complicated; and for those who get annoyed that their service can't be installed right now!! I would like to let you know that I do not have a switch I flip to turn it on - if I did I would gladly flip it! Thank you for calling, next time please complain to someone else.
