Oh, the shortage isn't world-wide. We seem to have far more in stores than people want to buy in south Aus. I can get a crapload of Wii bundles for around AU$400, and I've randomly checked a few times, they do have them in stock.

We have a sign in the hooby shop that reads:

Wii don't have them and Wii never will.
      Sowii...
      I love that sign!

We get this alot aswell. We have never sold Wiis and we aren't interested in doing them. Why are people buying Wiis at such a panicy rate? More importantly why doesn't Nintendo do ANYTHING about it?

On a personal note I wouldn't buy one ever, just too hokey to me (and yes I have played for for some time.

Um......made the comment to a friend last week (in fact the one that just finished my new computer that I am now working from, YAY!) looked at me funny when I mentioned that everyone seemed to be out of wiis.

All of the stores here in Roseburg, Oregon seem to have plenty. And when I mean plenty, I mean more than 10 in stock. More than 10. Probably closer to 20. Yeah, don't know what's happening to you guys, but get on the phone and start calling Fred Meyer (Kroger) and Walmart for starters. They have more than they can sell.

That "you're keeping them for employees!" excuse drives me bonkers too.

At my games store, we were allowed to preorder a Wii for launch, but we weren't allowed to hold one from any future shipment nor did we recieve a single PENNY off the price (we got discounts on games and accessories only). We most certainly did not have any hoarded in the back.

And one of the things that severely pissed me off last year was that one day when we were actually sold out of Wiis, the assistant manager and I put a makeshift sign up to say were sold out. As luck would have (or not have) it, the DM came by that day and made us TAKE DOWN the sign because...*drumroll please*...it hadn't been approved by corporate!

So we had to remove the sign and once again deal with a parade of folks who do late Christmas shopping asking us if we actually had Wiis available. Did I mentioned I didn't like the DM much?
